Bonhams: Urban Art - 17th April 2013, by craigf on Apr 17, 2013 21:30:00 GMT 1, Lot 36 Josรฉ Parlรก (b. 1973) Untitled ยฃ5250 Damn that is cheap and someone got a bargain!!! That was almost me, but was under bidder. It was a really lovely example, but timing of the auction was poor for me and although tempted to move my bid up I was conscious I am looking for a stand out piece (which maybe in many ways this is) and that it would have meant I had less money to spend on it.
Banksy prices were in some cases pretty good for the buyer (Stop & Search, Rude Copper) others went pretty high such as the Gangsta Rat

Bonhams: Urban Art - 17th April 2013, by craigf on Apr 17, 2013 21:35:09 GMT 1, Well spent more than planned as always.. but picked up lot #44 - the large FAILE dog. shock of the day for me is the signed barcode !! still be interested in any information or just wild opinions on lot #1.. david The Faile Dog was big and very nice indeed so a great pick up
What do you want to know about the LN? It was signed with COA, bought or gifted from Banksy a while back. I really liked the inscription, one of my favourite classic Banksy's

Bonhams: Urban Art - 17th April 2013, by Pistol on Apr 17, 2013 21:56:30 GMT 1, Just saw on Twitter that MBW was there to watch his Chaplin go unsold.....?!
He turned up after the Chaplin went, but saw his larger piece sell. Had a good chat with him, had my photo taken with him and he signed my catalogue :-)

Bonhams: Urban Art - 17th April 2013, by Shoot Again on Apr 17, 2013 22:30:48 GMT 1, As much as I am not a fan of MBW never mind spending ยฃ20k on a canvas I found the auctioneer extremely unprofessional by laughing at the lot. I would not be pleased if I had put that lot up. Especially as Thierry Guetta was in the room himself ! Very unprofessional indeed, I agree ...

Apologies, really don't "hate" MBW, or any other artist for that matter. I think he's quite funny, I think his work is funny in a lol way too, I think an auctioneer laughing before auctioning it is also funny. Didn't mean to offend.
peace

And anyway, since when making it to an auction house is a testimony of quality (of artworks) or not

Bonhams: Urban Art - 17th April 2013, by Dice on Apr 19, 2013 12:06:26 GMT 1, ยฃ4300 for the Adam neate sculpture was a great buy for someone. It was quite large and a true one-off. I wish I had the funds.
His turquoise paintings consistently fail to sell at auction though.

All his paintings consistently fail at auction. No measure on his talent. But it is what it is.

Wow really. What was the original price (ballpark)?
I don't think any really strong paintings have ever come up for sale, the classic red portraits for example so it's hard to judge.
