New UNIT44 Website - Feedback Please , by Agent Provocateur on Jan 9, 2013 18:42:23 GMT 1, I likey, clean and well organised with crisp type.
One (very) small gripe would be when going to the 'Artist Profiles' section the artists menu doesn't stay when you select an artist (the 'Real People' section does this and is much more user friendly)... you have to click back every time to view another one.
The left hand menu system (like the 'Real People' section mentioned above) would also work really well within the 'Browse Artwork' section. Having the left menu to select artwork by each artist would allow the user another way of viewing work, whilst still allowing for a range of different artists work to be seen when landing in the section.
I could also get a bit finickity about the gridded images on most pages, 'Home', 'Browse Artwork' etc It's very de rigueur on the webosphere atm to use this arrangement but it loses it's tightness when there are random white spaces where photos could go. Also, because the images are quite large, and there's usually a few of them you need to scroll down a long way to get to the bottom.
As I said tho, they're detailed points that don't really effect the ease of use and understanding of the site, it's one of the best gallery sites I've seen, good effort by the designers.

New UNIT44 Website - Feedback Please , by Agent Provocateur on Jan 10, 2013 19:47:23 GMT 1, No worries at all Danny... tbh I'm always wary of getting too detailed when people ask for opinions as sometimes they're not what the asker wants to hear!
An artist commenting/crtiqueing another artist in public is the most dangerous environment, but I thought a website design opinion couldn't get me into trouble! ;D

We want to deliver the best experience, I have discussed your comments today. They did not fall on deaf ears and work towards the final goal. So thanks

New UNIT44 Website - Feedback Please , by .dappy on Jan 11, 2013 0:45:23 GMT 1, First things first ... you know the good stuff and that the website is lovely The photos are excellent quality and they show the ethos of what you are doing and your vision of not being just 4 walls with paintings on them. The overall white use as a background works well, although as commented the photo layout may need to be jigged a little.
my tu' ppenies worth:
+ not sure about the light grey (and blue) font on white ... hard to read for normal (or is that old ) and dyslexic people
+ font size generally - all toooo small
+ do you need the footer bar and all the info in it on every page?
+ I am used to (lazy) and would like to click on an image rather than 'small link' to take me straight there - at least for the artwork itself.
+ Always put a double space after a full stop to begin the next sentance - it really works layout and reading wise
+ I would have Unit 44 always in the same font wherever it was mentioned. Build the brand! ;D
+ is it Unit 44 or Unit44 or UNIT 44 or ...
+ the top two headers, ie Unit 44 etc and About, Events etc take up approx 1/3 of the page - maybe more?!
+ on you subscription page and the question - who is your favourite artist? do you want to put in 'Other' and then people can add their own one?
+ I like the way you can choose artwork to a price (and size) and not just artist
+ on the Donald Trump - only display artwork >the ยฃ1k otherwise I would of searched for anything below that price point anyway.
+ in 'view cart' what is 'standard uk delvery' special delivery + insured? what does this mean in reality - 'All our prints are sent on a guaranteed priority service'?
+ can you offer a better service than 28 days delivery? I would expect delivery wihin a week unless arranged or the piece itself is being used in an exhibition.
+ 'Refunds' has a word missing
+ I would state - that you do not pass or sell on any email addresses or other personal information to 3rd parties
+ have you got a cookie use policy that the world has gone mad on displaying on their front web page or is that the 'Domain Information' in your 'Terms of Use' it
+ when you go to 'checkout' it takes you to paypal - what if you do not use paypal?
+ the link on the paypal page to 'cancel and return to Unit44' does not work (prob paypal issue)
+ on the blog page - stick on a back button to bring you back to the website (I did try clicking on your logo)
that's all folks - hope you take it as constructive feedback as that it what it is meant to be. Its a jolly good job and you are fittng in a lot of information in.

New UNIT44 Website - Feedback Please , by Deleted on Jan 11, 2013 8:39:52 GMT 1, All the above... Dappy advices are great. In all, the website looks great.
1/ Can't delete last item in basket. Managed to delete third and second item but not last.
2/ I would expect pagination in "Browse all artworks" or endless browsing (like FB or Twitter or Google Images, it loads more stuff when at bottom of page).
3/ Add a button next to your search box (becoz some people don't use the Enter key)
4/ Homepage doesn't validate due to & instead of & (2 errors) - html5.validator.nu/?doc=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.unit-44.com%2F - otherwise, if corrected, it validates
5/ Add title in links in your menu, no ??
6/ Since your images in your home page will not be indexed (CSS) make sure all inner pages are indexed by Google so that images are indexed as well.
7/ Not sure about the structure in LI element - <li><article><header><h1></h1></header><p></p><footer><p></p></footer></article></li> - I know is it conform to HTML5 semantic but not sure it is semanticly logic... but at the end, HTML5 is very flexible, so no big deal (but since it is within <article> I guess it is fine).
8/ No, most important, work on your meta data !!! Especially the OpenGraph protocol (useful if you want to control what is shown when people like your page on Facebook - a video ? a specific picture ?)
9/ Facebook, Twitter and Subscribe links doesn't work in your blog page
Cheers
Tested on Firefox 17.0.1 on Windows 7
