Favorite framing job. Post your pics!, by saint on Nov 20, 2013 16:20:54 GMT 1, I could bang on about juxtaposition and contrast but i wont. Each to their own, i happen to think some urban art works very well in ornate frames, for example Hush's work. I can think of examples when it wouldnt work at all of course, thats life tho, and the joy of getting art framed. If you do a good job choosing the style (and you like it, f**k everyone elses opinion after all) and your framer does a good job, then you love the piece even more when its up on the wall. IMO of course. I know the styles you speak of and maybe even some of the works we have seen posted here over the years. For me, if my eyes are dancing then it's not working(again for me) Exactly CG. I've seen work over the years on here that looks hideous in the frame, but the art work itself is amazing. I've also seen stunning work on here framed in such a boring way that i fell asleep as i looked at it....

Favorite framing job. Post your pics!, by DameHoracia on Nov 20, 2013 16:23:46 GMT 1, whatta great thread this is!.. so many exceptional framing jobs in here.. great source for inspiration and as proof how important it is to find the right framing job.. this Eine looks next level with this framing.. thanks everyone for sharing.. here is a little Ryden I framed up in a $10 vintage frame I found the other day: I love this. I think it is a nice choice for the image. I searched high and low for a particular frame for a RAE print I want framing, found what I wanted and it was sold under my nose. That hurt, I know the style of frame, although not modern would have worked brilliantly with RAE's piece.

Most of my stuff in the office I keep clean and simple but we live in a really old house and white box frames look a bit out of sync. We have most of our stuff in white or gold ornate frames around the house and the overall effect is way better than it would look in plain old box frames..

One of the main troubles is that this one is on metal and is big (42"x30") and heavy. The blackness around the image is all part of the image and being on metal the black is sharp and deep (if that makes sense) and so don't want to loose any of it. A coloured or ornate frame would take away from the image. What size for the frame thickness etc. The frame has to be big and strong enough to support the piece but not overpower it. What do you do?
Hi-gloss black frame with museum glass in the end, but a lot of thought went into it.
