Edinburgh & Glasgow, by suddenrush on Jul 17, 2014 13:01:45 GMT 1, Hi everyone!
In the end uf July/early August I'll visit Edinburgh and Glasgow. I did some (google) research for galleries, but nothing interesting turned up.
Do any of you have recommendations on galleries (to buy art), museums (to look at it) or other points of interest (artist spaces, underground/alternative shops, comic shops ) to go to? I'm looking specifically for street/urban art, not so much for modern art or print shops.
Thanks in advance!

Edinburgh & Glasgow, by Feral Things on Jul 17, 2014 13:50:02 GMT 1, EDIT: I've inserted some links below:
- Faile have a show at Summerhall in Edinburgh from 1 August to 26 September "Featuring interactive games designed for Art Basel Miami Beach 2013, FAILE BรST Deluxx Fluxx Arcade Edinburgh 2014 invites visitors to take a turn with specially programmed video games and pinball machines or play a round of psychedelic foosball. This Edinburgh installation marks the first ever showing by the artists in Scotland. In a second exhibition of large painterly works (created on printing boards but completed in situ at Summerhall) Faile will exhibit an number of unique colourful abstracts for the first time anywhere in the world." Further details here.
- Gamma Transport Division have an exhibition entitled 'Rewired' featuring Stohead, SatOne Poesia and more from 9 August. "For 60+ years art has adorned the sleeves of records, a visual expression of what's inside. We're about to Rewire this relationship. An international line up of visual artists have created works which are now being interpreted sonically by audio artists. Effectively reversing the common record model where the artist creates an image to capture the mood of the music. The visual works come from a curated line up of abstract urban artists. The audio artists have been selected from the vein of experimental electronic music." Further details here.
- I know you said you weren't interested in modern art but the National Museum of Modern Art have some lovely Warhols and one of the best Lichtensteins. Further details here.
- Recoat are in the middle of a mural project with Fintan Magree, Best Ever and more in Glasgow. "Recoat have brought five internationally renowned artists to Glasgow to paint large-scale murals across the city. The murals celebrate the people of the Commonwealth, exploring the theme of โidentityโ and have been informed by local community engagement. Participating artists are some of the leading mural artists in the world: Askew (New Zealand); Elph (Scotland); Bestรฉ Ever (England); Faith47 (South Africa); and Fintan Magee (Australia). " Further details here.
