Nola price check, by heathunter881 on Aug 18, 2014 4:46:32 GMT 1, There are way better investments than Banksy at this point. How much more do you guys expect this to go up if galleries are already asking a 15-17k? If I have to wait 10+ years for this to double up I might as well invest on something more stable. FYI, I rather buy from a personal collector anyway than pay gallery prices. I'm sure they're charging customers at least another 10-30% for consignments.

Nola price check, by Black Apple Art on Aug 18, 2014 7:36:45 GMT 1, Not having a pop at you, ruggs, but wouldn't it be a good idea in the interests of transparency if all members providing price check advice stated whether or not they own the same piece? It would be even better if the forum price experts could link to actual completed sales when posting their prices, otherwise they are just a guess and we can all f**king well do that. ricardob sold one a few weeks ago here. Sharing the sales info is up to him but maybe a PM might do it.

Couldn't disagree more with this, dude. Same logic that the people who bought canvases for low hundreds had. Look at the facts too- they tell a pretty strong story of compound growth.
But each to the own

However, I wouldn't be surprised to see canvases gain more attention since it attracts a different breed of collectors and bank account.

I think there is still room for unsigned to run up quite a bit more given the huge discrepancy in price between an unsigned Banksy and a signed print. Its an expensive squiggle as essentially its exactly the same artwork.
I also think that the canvases will start to rise, small edition canvases look relatively cheap when CYW are going for close ยฃ20k and more is you have a rare color. I think you could get a canvas for the price of a Kate Moss, i'd think many people would want an original at that price.

Assuming he does, all of his signed and unsigned pieces will likely come down back to earth at a certain point. Serious Banksy collectors will likely dump their signed papers for canvases IF they're able to sell before the bell curve hits a downward swing. But if Banksy stops producing anymore work then everything should keep ticking up just like what's happening now.

Be more transparent if all members declared if they have a vested (Financial or other) interest in any artist
