WARNING - FRAUD, by kultur on Sept 6, 2014 19:15:37 GMT 1, I was hit really hard on August 17th. A guy from London bought 5 Dolk prints and paid over the phone. Yesterday the bank called me and said the guy used stolen cc(s); after his payment cleared and the pieces have been delivered of course. I spoke to my bank, but apparently over the phone payments is not their responsibility. I wished I would have found this threat before all this mess. Anyways, I am going to write down the numbers of these Dolks and hopefully this somehow will help catch these guys. Dolk - Pope 81/250 Dolk - Pig 106/250 Dolk - Praying Gild 146/250 Dolk - Leap 228/250 Dolk - Winner 172/250 Did you contact Handmadeposters? They do keep a record of all prints and who they are registered to. I doubt the scammer would register them himself, but if someone is checking the prints with HMP before they purchase then they could find out. I have no idea what they would do if someone purchased one of these unknowingly and then found out it was stolen.

WARNING - FRAUD, by rednal55 on Sept 6, 2014 20:49:14 GMT 1, I work for a gallery. We have never had any issues with over the phone payments. But we found out yesterday that our bank do not want to take any responsibility for this. "Over the phone payments is your responsibility", that's what they told us. It didn't matter how much money we have made this company over the years.

WARNING - FRAUD, by Deleted on Sept 6, 2014 21:22:08 GMT 1, I've had another fraudster trying to purchase from me. He's using the name KUNLE KAZEEM. I imagine he now might be using a different name, but if you're an individual or gallery, please be wary that there are people trying to purchase high value goods using stolen credit cards. This one then?.

I feel for you, luckily when i spoke to my bank manager he made it clear i wasnt covered and advised me against it, you could say youd spoken to another gallery whod been made aware of the pitfalls by their bank manager regarding payment over the phone and you were considering moving banks, trust me theyll bend over backwards to get you to stay, play the hard done by customer and milk it as much as possible...is it worth moving? Probably not they all follow the same rulebook, if youre lucky youll get a decent oldschool manager with a heart, mines moved on, now i have a bloody human robot to advise me

WARNING - FRAUD, by Deleted on Sept 6, 2014 21:47:27 GMT 1, the filth dont give a shit/ dont have the rescources to cover this- and its a boom business
a couple of people have tried to rip me in the past year, but the spidey senses tingled and i tried to contact the cops - I had the scammers detials- utter disinterest , even went to the local nick to report it as had no joy on the phone and they just shrugged and probably binned the details as it was an attmempt rather than an actual.
Overseas cards are the main way they do this as they cane a card until it gets blocked- then it takes a few weeks for the issuers to get back and reject the transaction. its just an extention of the old cheque for cars scam
be careful

WARNING - FRAUD, by Dr Plip on Sept 6, 2014 22:22:19 GMT 1, My old place of work got ripped off twice by people using cards over the phone. About ยฃ300 and ยฃ600's worth of goods.
Both cases, we gave all the details to the Police. Names used, addresses where the goods were sent to (and signed for). First case, the card details turned out to be stolen and they hadn't cancelled/noticed it in time. The second case, the card holder just simply denied they had authorised the transaction.
Case closed, the Police told us there was nothing more they could do.
Signatures appeared to mean very little on those deliveries though. I'm all for a signature and a quick photo of the person that's signed for the item. None of this "M.Mouse" or "Mr. Squiggle" bulls**t. GIVE ME A FACE!!!

WARNING - FRAUD, by andyroo0312 on Sept 7, 2014 5:00:53 GMT 1, I've had another fraudster trying to purchase from me. He's using the name KUNLE KAZEEM. I imagine he now might be using a different name, but if you're an individual or gallery, please be wary that there are people trying to purchase high value goods using stolen credit cards. This was/is a big problem here but not so much with stolen cards but thru skimming the info and then transferring the data to a blank card this way the owner is not aware until they get there statement the card holder is not liable but the retail outlet get screwed not just with the loss of item and funds but the cc company charge the outlet a fee on top for reversing the charge. It must be hard for you guys that do a lot of online sales. In Sydney recently they busted this huge crime ring from Eastern Europe that had over 100k of people's info ready to transfer to blank cards the info apparently came via a big bank here who's call centre was in India and it was from there the info was skimmed/copied by a employee and sold to the crime ring another smaller one was busted not far from me but the skimming was being done by a restaurant that copied the cards details when someone used it to pay for their steak & chips, it is starting to get to the point it is hard to trust anyone these days unless they live in Sydney and are called andyroo0312 Good to hear you were not back dooored PA.
