I'm guessing he simply emailed PTA and asked. They've always been very friendly and professional with me

Maya hayuk, by Hairbland on May 20, 2015 1:04:30 GMT 1, Wish the price was lower, but apparently Maya's trying to scoop the flippers by pricing at market value, which isn't a terrible idea.
Or cash in while the going's good.

Maya hayuk, by lucky7 on May 20, 2015 5:31:52 GMT 1, I think Maya Hayuk has a better CV than 99% of the artists mentioned in this forum. Although to be honest, and now that I think about it, about 90% of the artist mentioned here pretty much have no CV whatsoever (hehe, no offense; and I won't name names).
I used to be surprised at how cheap MH was, the prices seem to be finally catching up. Then again, it seems to me she is in a very prickly part of her career where everything can go either way. She needs to start working with bigger names gallerywise, or she might go bust. Pernonally, I think her talent will end up pushing through. I think and hope she will be BIG.
So this print might be a bargain that will end up costing 10 times more in 5 years, or it might be as some say, too ambitious.
I like ambition, sometimes.

Maya hayuk, by soupy on May 20, 2015 13:38:23 GMT 1, I got the $1000 price tag on the Multiverses 2 as it was a low run (35 I think) and really big! I can't see this insta-selling out at that price and run size, but I could be wrong. I think some people said the same thing about DALeast .... and 1,000 USD price tag is a lot different than 1,000 GBP price tag. pretty outrageous price point on such a large run (if true). multiverses 2 sold relatively slowly and even multiverses 1 was sold by galleries for $1,000 in the aftermarket.
i'm a fan of maya, but not shelling out 1,000 GBP for a print of that run size. like others have said... you are venturing closer to OG price territory.

Not trying to argue, but MV2 sold out in less than a day. I wouldn't call that slow considering they were significantly more expensive than any print prior.
And while I agree you're venturing in the direction of OG price territory, her pricing has gone up across the board. Just check out what allouche is asking for the diamond they've got hanging right now...

And while I agree you're venturing in the direction of OG price territory, her pricing has gone up across the board. Just check out what allouche is asking for the diamond they've got hanging right now... Key word: asking; as in, not sold. In terms of sales, I don't think the originals are moving upwards as fast as you think they are. The last offer that hit my inbox a few months ago still had a 30"x40" piece in her popular style priced around $5,750USD, and larger works, again in her popular style, at 36"x48" priced at about $7,400USD. There has also been a nice 24"x24" diamond sitting in the FS forum of this very site at $5,000USD for weeks.
As for the print, at ยฃ970 for an edition of 99, that is a very aggressive jump from $1,000USD for an edition of 30, especially considering the last recorded MV2 sale was at $1,600USD.
On a very basic level, I like the work and think it is pretty, but that only takes me so far in how much I want to spend to own any of it.

But you've made the mistake of thinking that Maya's market only exists within this forum. So while you may not be getting offers here, selling through one of her galleries, I would imagine, would yield much better results.
As for the print, I didn't say she hasn't taken an aggressive jump with this one. We'll see whether or not it was warranted. But I'll tell you that I received an offer of 1800 USD for my MV2, and did not accept.
I think in the end we agree on her work. I like it, I own it. I won't be killing people over each and every release to get my hands on them.

I am not the one selling the painting on the forum, nor did I mean to imply that her market consisted of only this forum, which is why I gave an example of an attempted private sale, and the prices provided for recent gallery works.
My comments aren't an attempt to bring her down. I wish her much success. I just think there can be harm in attempting to move prices upward too quickly. Regardless of my opinions, we shall see the outcome of that decision shortly.

Maya hayuk, by soupy on May 30, 2019 15:03:55 GMT 1, yeah. i was excited when i heard maya was going to have a few archived prints for sale.... but as soon as i heard paddle8, i pretty much gave up all hope in getting one for anywhere close to current market value. bidding increments of $100, buyer premium, taxes, shipping...
probably could have more money going to the actual charity by going other selling routes.

Reggae Sound System +/- $1,850.00 BBBT +/- $2,000.00 Very X +/- $2,000.00 Multiverses +/- $2,500.00
Those are all pre buyers premium, tax and shipping.

There are some fans out there!!
Any idea on how much they ended up going for? I was watching until the end, but didn't screenshot. Someone may have more accurate results, but I believe they were something along the lines of: Reggae Sound System +/- $1,850.00 BBBT +/- $2,000.00 Very X +/- $2,000.00 Multiverses +/- $2,500.00 Those are all pre buyers premium, tax and shipping. wow! before all the add-ons? There are some fans out there!!
