Lazarides Editions | Winter Catalogue | 2014 , by met on Dec 20, 2014 1:19:14 GMT 1, not sure if everyone would've got that one. I remember. I remember this as well, and how curious it was for a gallery to collectively refer to customers — who'd been waiting for hours out in the cold, and who played a part in building up the business — as "print monkeys".
At the time, it seemed like an amusing yet gratuitously insulting thing to write.
But despite that candid and very public expression of contempt last year towards those wishing to make purchases, many people today still queued for hours outside the gallery to hand over their cash, like masochists for whom a print arguably matters more than self-respect. Which forces me to reconsider my earlier position: the "print monkeys" gibe now looks as if it may have been a fair comment, or at least not entirely unfair.

I don't really collect prints anymore, and nor did I when that comment was made. But i did think then, and still think it was disrespectful.

Lazarides Editions | Winter Catalogue | 2014 , by Someones Brain on Jan 14, 2015 16:29:20 GMT 1, Wow, just came back home to find all these wonderful prints have been available for the last hours. Hard decision, easy purchase. What a refreshing experience. Bought the Francis Diner. Now I can only hope the other Francis, the new Proch (Pachta), the Xenz (Now Here) and the Jansen (Homeland) sell out before I become weak again. Anyone else waiting for delivery of a print from the "first round"? I bought the Francis "Diner" print on the day of release but didn't receive it yet. I contacted LAZARIDES shortly before the christmas period and they asked me in an email just hours laters to wait a little longer before we'd try to track it down. I sent two more emails in January (last one 5 days ago) but havn't gotten any reply since their first and only email of 19 December. I know they might be totally busy with the new exhibition (Jenkins) starting the day after tomorrow and with today's print release so I don't want to bother them again. On the other side I'm really worried what happened. Any advice how to proceed from the more knowledgable member here? Thanks in advance!
