Os ’ Gallery Works Come to Life in New Video
massappeal.com/os-gemeos-ben-mor-osgemeos-video/
Os Gemeos get really creative with human-sized works of street art, go deep into detail with big murals, create three dimensional sculptures, and take over giant structures entirely. It doesn’t stop with the streets or the public realm though, and they’re happy to push the boundaries within a gallery setting too.
This is where the new video titled “OSGEMEOS” finds them, in a contemplative and tranquil mood with the noise of the street muted behind gallery walls. Although there are a couple shots of them out bombing – it couldn’t be a true portrait of Os Gemeos with out at least a reference to the act—Ben Mor focuses on bringing their indoor work to life. And he does it quite literally. The twins’ art objects end up viewing each other, their eyes glancing around their respective rooms, blinking with a new awareness. The surreal backdrops are also unfrozen from their medium, swirling and floating through space via Mor’s effects.
The whole thing has the feel of dream, and the lullaby compositions of Javier Navarrete heighten this sensation. It brings into question where exactly the realm of the mind and that of the body actually separate.
