'Udin' - new giclee print release, by Dan Kitchener on Aug 20, 2015 7:00:58 GMT 1, I hope forum members don't mind me posting this, I know it's not strictly street related, and don't want to appear to be a crusader demanding money from people, but this is something important to me and feel its a valid place to share!
I am sure many forum members are aware that I am currently in the midst of my year long marathon running challenge for charity. I am running one marathon per month, every month this year and even some ultra marathons thrown in to keep me on my toes!
So far I have completed 7 marathons, one of them being a 50km Ultra marathon on August 9th in Salisbury, and i am doing this to raise money for OVAID - Orangutan Veterinary Aid. They are Nigel and Sara Hicks, who volunteer huge chunks of their year to spend time in the jungles of Malaysia and Indonesia and works hands on helping the poor orangutans that are rescued by International Animal rescue, due to extensive deforestation. They also rescue baby orangutans that are sold to the pet trade, many of them permanently traumatised by these experiences.
So, the work they do is tangible, hands on and very real, the money i am raising does not get swallowed up by some huge corporate machine, it will go directly to them and the animals they help and will make a HUGE difference!
So we have released this charity print of an original canvas painting of baby 'Udin' who has recently made a lot of world wide media attention

So I have completed 9 of 12 marathons so far, with my 10th set for Jan and 11 and 12 set for Feb 2016!
I have also sold the original painting of Udin and managed to raise another £375.00 for OVAID bringin my running total to £1125.00!

I have made a small donation to OVAID as it's so sad to see the ramifications of deforestation on our wildlife. And I admire those out there doing their part to help those helpless animals have a life.

So I have continued running marathons, didn't stop at the 12 and now have completed 17 marathons since last January 2015, 4 of which were ultra marathons 50km, as well as a handfull of half marathon thrown in as training!
The prints of 'UDIN' are still selling, and we have 10 available form the edition of 25, just sold 4 in the last couple of days, adding another £375.00 to the total I have raised for OVAID, which is in excess of £2000.00

Nice going. I will donate some money.
Having done a few ultras in my time I realise the effort this takes.
Maybe you should come and consider a multi day ultra? If you're game I am!?
