Sotheby's 30/09/15 Made in Britain, by Deleted on Sept 10, 2015 9:14:16 GMT 1, There is an awful lot more to that sale than a few done to death banksys.

GRIN REAPER To seller ยฃ7,650 Hammer ยฃ8,500 W/Premium ยฃ10,625 The full sheet, printed to the edges, generally in good condition apart from two areas of black ink that have been added in the white of the clock, two tiny areas of pigment loss in the black border, glued to mount at corners verso, framed

BOMB HUGGER To seller ยฃ4,050 Hammer ยฃ4,500 w/Premium ยฃ5,625 The full sheet (printed to the lower edge), in good condition apart from three minor scuff marks in the black background in the subject's skirt, only visible in a raking light, framed.
NAPALM (signed) To seller ยฃ4,500 Hammer ยฃ5,000 w/Premium ยฃ6,250 With full margins, generally in good condition apart from pale areas of discoloration at the lower edge of the image (most likely a minor printing flaw?), minor scuffs in the upper central image area, light skinning in the lower right margin, very light surface soiling in the margins, two small stray red ink marks in the upper margin centre, remains of tape at two places along upper sheet edge verso, unframed.
BARCODE To seller ยฃ5,400 Hammer ยฃ6,000 w/Premium ยฃ7,500 The full sheet, in good condition apart from a soft crease across the upper left sheet corner (only visible upon close inspection), framed.

I FOUGHT THE LAW To seller ยฃ2,160 Hammer ยฃ2,400 w/Premium ยฃ3,000 The full sheet, in good condition apart from scattered soft creases to the sheet, a few indentations along the sheet edges, unframed.

BOMB MIDDLE ENGLAND To seller ยฃ2,880 Hammer ยฃ3,200 w/Premium ยฃ4,000 The full sheet, in good condition apart from a short horizontal crease at the lower right sheet edge, framed.
So, not much increase since Dismaland. I'm more amazed by the P1 hammering at ยฃ24k today. There goes all those rubbish opinions that P1 & P2 were headed to the ยฃ75k mark!

Sotheby's 30/09/15 Made in Britain, by Goooogle Male on Sept 30, 2015 16:18:17 GMT 1, Overall impression I got from the sale (last lot has just finished) is that it is now cheaper to buy banksy at sotheby's than from this forum (or a street art gallery). Think people on here might be getting a little over excited with their pricing at present - this might bring things down to earth a little. ยฃ4.5k to the seller of the signed Napalm might be a bit galling - i'd imagine they were really expecting double that.

That Napalm was fucked. The seller should be happy they got what they did.

Sotheby's 30/09/15 Made in Britain, by markent on Sept 30, 2015 16:22:42 GMT 1, Thanks for the info posterbob. They all seem to have minor flaws, is this an over cautious Sotherbys or a seller selling his slightly damaged prints? Oh and if anyone on here wants to sell their mint signed Napalm for the 4.5k please PM me

fair enough - hadn't read the condition report; its a bit cheeky putting it behind a second link.
Even so, pretty sure it would have been picked up for ยฃ5k here by someone pretty quickly - would be the cheapest signed Banksy on here for many a year, and some crafty framing would probably hide most of the condition issues....

Sotheby's 30/09/15 Made in Britain, by Goooogle Male on Sept 30, 2015 16:35:03 GMT 1, What I am very surprised about is that they even allowed the IFTL sale to continue once they realised it had no PC Cert (and why anyone would either attempt to sell without OR why anyone would bid on it I have no idea).
What happens further down the line if PC refuse the cert?? Can there be any comeback on Sotheby's or are they covered by the fact the 'amended' the sale verbally to say no PC, even though it was in the catalogue (and thus commission bidders wouldn't have been aware).

That is curious and yes Sotheby's would stand by their name if PC denied the COA which is why a percentage of buyers only buy at auction, ie to establish that provenance. If it's deemed a fake later on, the primary houses will take them back which is one of the many reasons we often see a premium for works at auction.
As an aside to this thread, i was told many years ago to never consign to nor draw conclusions from any off-season auctions.

Serious question, Lee -- when is/are the auction season(s)?

As an aside to this thread, i was told many years ago to never consign to nor draw conclusions from any off-season auctions. Serious question, Lee -- when is/are the auction season(s)? It used to be May NY and late June/early July London and then October London and NY November. The off months were NY September and London February and none of the other months even counted. I think a strong argument can be made for contemporary that it has become NY May and NY November over the past 5 years and an even stronger argument that it's become Christie's NY May and Christie's NY November.
I say that in the context of the overall trophies and totals as opposed to any one artist as I would expect most houses to steer Banksy consignments to the London sales which is why I was stunned to see only the ballerina sculpture and HW edition 25 between all 3 houses for the London sales following the Dismaland undertaking. It will be interesting to see if any are included in the NY sales a few weeks later.
