WTB Banksy Strawberry Donut, S&S or some Unsigned Prints, by gravity1 on Oct 21, 2015 3:03:52 GMT 1, Looking for the following, cash ready, serious buyer:) If you're using any type of auction/ebay pricing to come up with an asking price please disregard this ad. Thank you! Translation: If you are using any actual real world sales stats get lost...If you want to sell under market happy to take it.
Actual Ebay auctions, not "buy it now", are great feelers for the market as are looking at multiple auction house results. It is easy to back out premiums if needed but bottom line that number is what was paid by the buyer. Any other sales figures are purely taking someone's word for what they sold or bought and even if accurate carry no more or less weight than the above.

Clarification:
I said "Ebay pricing" not completed listings. Sure I'd take into account something actually sold on ebay...that's common sense. What I'm not going to entertain however is $40K ebay pricing on a Donut for example.
And as far as "Auction house pricing" well I don't consider it even close to "private sales pricing". It's really my prerogative to not waste my time or anyone else's...if someone is going to send a PM saying "Last one sold at Sotheby's for this much hence my asking price of ____" I'm simply not interested. I've been to these auction houses and have come to the conclusion that most hammer prices are anomalies not even ceilings or benchmarks.
The best sales data is what pervious members have sold items for. Yes sure taking someone's word blah blah comes into play but it's fairly easy to verify, plus you'd be surprised as how much ebay bid shilling goes on and how many actual "sold listings" don't come to fruition.
Moral of the story, there is no perfect algorithm. I have my own method and it doesn't include auction houses or ebay pricing. Sure it may take longer because everyone is on that "sell a banksy get rich quick tip" but I have patience and it has always work out in the past.
As much as anyone would love to pay under market value for a banksy...we all know times have changed and everyone is "in the know"...It's like trying to find a 1971 Hemi Cuda barn find, it's not impossible but it's next to it.

WTB Banksy Strawberry Donut, S&S or some Unsigned Prints, by mla on Oct 21, 2015 11:49:49 GMT 1, I'll step in and vouch for rebelate. Just had a deal with him and he was perfectly willing to transact at fair market rates. I think all he's saying is that if you are delusional with your prices and shooting for the stars, don't bother.
