WOW.....The Snow on Santa's Ghetto page is TRIPPY, by neutral on Dec 16, 2007 21:39:24 GMT 1, I have not seen any of the print in the flesh so wont comment on them as I believe most of the above. On the other end, nothing floats my boat but that does not mean POW/LAZ/SG/artists are crap, rubbish or boring.
They still managed to sold out the vast majority of their editions so they surely do something right there.

WOW.....The Snow on Santa's Ghetto page is TRIPPY, by corblimeylimey on Dec 16, 2007 21:44:37 GMT 1, I've bought nothing so far, and I'm in the majority according to this poll banksyforum.proboards82.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=1197399625&page=2 neither has 68% of the forum, near as damn it 7 out of 10 of members here who could be bothered to vote have not bought a single print.
In spite of this and what's being argued on this thread, the ghetto has pretty much sold out so they're doing something right, unless they're only selling to uneducated flippers.
Personally I liked the Gee Vaucher best and would have bought it if I had the money and space.

WOW.....The Snow on Santa's Ghetto page is TRIPPY, by numusic on Dec 16, 2007 21:48:14 GMT 1, Nu, you should chill out with your lame personal attacks and tell us what online prints you bought from the ghetto this year and why.
Not intended to be personal mate. Using the "print house" against "print house" argument, not the Frankie against Laz. You post on here as a "Gallery" if I'm not mistaken. For a "Gallery" to attack all the artists you just did based on the print house they're with, shows a serious lack of judgement IMO. Forget your history with POW/LAZ and get on with the art mate.
BTW, Well done with the Herakut show dude. Looked excellent.

WOW.....The Snow on Santa's Ghetto page is TRIPPY, by mike hunt on Dec 16, 2007 21:52:41 GMT 1, I haven't bought anything - the GV is ok and I really like the 3D stuff (but not for the price). I don't know how this happened, but somehow a thread called "WOW.....The Snow on Santa's Ghetto page is TRIPPY" became a heated discussion. I think we should get back to the thread subject and talk about getting high. Seriously though, I am looking at lesser priced artists who's work is really great. I think under ยฃ120 for a print is the right price for most (not established) artists, and I can get stuff I really like for that price. Banksy is different - he is established and here to stay, so the Trolleys price was fair enough. However, if the price is more than that this time, then sadly I will have to pass. I love art, but I need to keep warm and pay the heating bills!

WOW.....The Snow on Santa's Ghetto page is TRIPPY, by neutral on Dec 16, 2007 21:57:07 GMT 1, Rather than buying prints, Stolen Space have made a great move in offering some originals at a very reasonable price. I am glad I picked up a little canvas for the price of a print give or take...

About this time last year I bought Dolks Che for only ยฃ50, signed too, although his prices have gone up to ยฃ70 - ยฃ90 still good value, I love that Che print very much, just as good a many other much more expensive prints IMO.

Or they've not released all of the prints from the edition, I think alot of these prints will still be available after the ghetto, and PoW are just drip feeding them to us!

Agree with that too, I've bought original vinyl killer art for as little as ยฃ20 and a canvas for not much over ยฃ100.
Check this out, ยฃ100 original canvas (well two actually) go to gallery, then forward to 'Fairfight' www.ctrl84.com/
Also check out our SPQR, all original canvases less than ยฃ100, cheapest ยฃ60 www.freewebs.com/spqrcanvas/
And if you want a 'bigger name' CopyRight originals around ยฃ220 copyright.myshopify.com/

WOW.....The Snow on Santa's Ghetto page is TRIPPY, by bobbyt23 on Dec 16, 2007 22:13:14 GMT 1, I think I'm in the majority on this one as I have not bought anything yet and nothing that has been released so far has really interested me. To be honest I'm not overwhelmed by the imminent Banksy if it is what everyone is speculating about. The dove would be a different matter, that is a great image.
The only other piece that has really caught my eye and I really hope they release as a print is this one by Paul Insect:
So fingers crossed we get some next week, and at a price that's not too high.

Yes I like some of them too, I'm surprised they're giclees, some would be pretty simple to do as screen prints.

WOW.....The Snow on Santa's Ghetto page is TRIPPY, by mike hunt on Dec 16, 2007 22:25:24 GMT 1, Great posts. While everyone else takes their eye off the ball with SG, lets remember why we got into this in the first place. Discovering great art at affordable prices BEFORE everyone else jumps on it. Remember the buzz of 'finding' an artist and then seeing their value rise? CBL - I'm with you on the che, and I'm sure most people have an equivalent in their collection. There have been some great posts lately about other artists, and I'm gonna be buying some top stuff for peanuts thanks to them. Look at Jeff Aerosols 'Bop till you drop' - I love that piece, its great value and Jeff seems like a top bloke who's heart pumps spray paint!

Yes, the chances are some or most won't go up in value at all, but that doesn't matter does it.

WOW.....The Snow on Santa's Ghetto page is TRIPPY, by mike hunt on Dec 16, 2007 22:40:51 GMT 1, Seeing their value rise is great because it makes you feel like you contributed to the artists success before they were popular. You invested money purely for the art, when no-one else was interested. When they do well, its a nice feeling.

Precisely. Chances are it won't go up. But its ok to be happy and pleased with yourself if it does! You have made some small contribution towards that talented but unknown artists success. The downside is when the popularity and prices go up, its difficult to get any more pieces!

Ok - I can tell by the tone of your keyboard you're waiting to shoot me down in flames! Faile, Bast, Obey, Micallef amongst others. But I haven't got a hope in hell of ever getting another Faile or Obey due to the rate they sellout and the prices. They weren't totally unknown when I purchased, but their stuff was hanging around for ages without anyone buying. I never dreamt their profiles would explode as they did but I'm glad. I'd never sell them but it feels great that they're so sought after now.

WOW.....The Snow on Santa's Ghetto page is TRIPPY, by mike hunt on Dec 16, 2007 23:34:16 GMT 1, thanks uvme - I wasn't expecting that! I love the older Bast stuff that I bought and used to think they were way better than Faile. When Faile blew up, I couldn't believe why Bast were still so underrated. I hope they sell all their stuff and get the recognition they deserve.

WOW.....The Snow on Santa's Ghetto page is TRIPPY, by jon0 on Dec 17, 2007 14:44:52 GMT 1, wow.. some of the 3D are looking good. how heavy hitting is the 'International Jihad' ? heavy stuff. Good point made above- why Giclee? I suppose it's easier and less time consuming. I hope we don't lose the art of true silkscreen printing along the way. I have the earlier edition of 3D 'Peace At Last'- the one that's more orangy and also has blue etc. I'm fairly certain that was a silkscreen print.
