Rather than a 7.5 k poster ;-) Nope, would still rather than 7.5K one if I had a choice ( is that really what nolas are going for these days? soooo many better ways to spend that type of cash than a bad image of bruce dickinson from iron maiden. Dont have 7.5K, dont have a nola and dont want a pricey poster, but given the choice out of the 3..... i know which one I'd like )

Couldnโt agree more, really want a real one but its never going to happen but every day I looked at it I would remember that I canโt afford the real one

WCP The West Country Prince, by morrow on Mar 1, 2013 1:24:59 GMT 1, I know everyone has their own thoughts about these, but I got a Nola this afternoon. I had purchased an HMV quite awhile back as well. Why? Well, I love the images and in my current situation purchasing a real one in the secondary market would not be a wise choice. Do I feel like a fraud? No, not at all. When people ask about the HMV I always explain it is not an original and that I always loved the image. I am the one with it hanging in my home so I could care less what others think anyways. I think you need to ask yourself this... if Banksy had produced editions of 50k and the images were readily available to anyone at anytime for a small fee (much smaller then market prices) would you still own or want one? Would you like the image as much as you do now? I think people get caught up too much in the 'worth' of an image rather than if they really like/enjoy the image. The rarity and price is what really drive the person to like it rather than the art itself.
So, with that said, yeah I will soon have two repros in my home and I will love them, won't pass them off as real, and just enjoy them. Should I have the ability with good conscience to buy the real some day I'm sure I will. Till then I can still enjoy them in this repro form.
For those who are all about the rarity and market value there really isn't anything to worry about as it is a very easy tell from repro and original.

WCP The West Country Prince, by Happy Go Lucky Chap on Mar 2, 2013 15:17:22 GMT 1, I bought a few WCP in the past - not overly impressed with them close up, but ok on the wall behind glass. Am also tempted with the Nola, but might hold off until the APs become available!

WCP The West Country Prince, by redfred on Mar 2, 2013 15:34:42 GMT 1, I think at the end of the day they are what they are, bought Kate and GWB in the past and neither made my wall, gave Kate away and he framed it up and has pride of place and I must admit it looks good. Depends what you want I suppose but certainly dont blame anybody for buying them.

WCP The West Country Prince, by james on Mar 2, 2013 19:54:33 GMT 1, how many colourways have there been of Kate by WCP? I was close to purchasing the purple before it went. I suppose there'll be more of other colourways to come...

WCP The West Country Prince, by summoner on Mar 3, 2013 18:15:14 GMT 1, Thought I would interject in the whole real/fake discussion. I do own a real Banksy, Jack & Jill, and after getting this framed and on the wall my girlfriends 10yr old daughter wanted to see more work done by Banksy. She is a huge fan of my Shep collection and lights up every time a new one hits the door. She and I got to looking at some of Banksy's prints and she flipped over Girl with Red Balloon. I remembered seeing that WCP had some, so I figured what the hell and picked one up. I kept it a secret from her until just yesterday when I picked up an Ikea frame, had the glass swapped out for UV Plexi and put this up in her room.
In it's simplest form art comes down to the image and the connection with that image to the person looking at it. Does she care that it's not a 10K+ authenticated Banksy? Not in the slightest, but by the reaction she has you would have thought that it was. That is all that really matters, at least to me.

WCP The West Country Prince, by gatecrasher on Mar 4, 2013 12:19:21 GMT 1, I would rather frame a set of banksy post cards than have these reprints on my wall.....
Whats the difference ? Neither are original in the sense that the original artist had any input in the creation of them or gains financially from them.
I get that WCP prints are pure copies but unless my lottery numbers come up or some distant great-aunt that collects cats dies childless and leaves me her fortune, Im unlikely to ever be able to afford a signed Banksy.
Atleast these have had some human artistic input in their making.

I'm sure banksy gets a cut of the post cards and posters sold at pow. To me these prints are no better than a fake Rolex or Gucci bag. Why not support another up and coming artist or buy something else that you like instead.

WCP The West Country Prince, by Snakes on Mar 4, 2013 21:43:40 GMT 1, Who cares. You like it then buy it. At least this way you are buying an image because you like it and are not buying it because it is an expensive status symbol to impress your dinner party guests with.
