Explain VNA Special value, by Momo on Aug 17, 2016 9:28:34 GMT 1, Can someone explain to me how the ltd VNAs have such low value even though low runs - signed - numbered and screen printed.. For example Harrington has what like 10 prints?! But only 4 were screen prints, including the VNA but value doesn't reflect that fact.. Eine VNA looks smashing and fits with his style yet value doesn't reflect it... Invader has one with an actual Invader on it yet again value is miles away from its comparatives..
So is it because it's on a magazine? If so what about all the prints done on cardboard and other bits and bobs?
Can anyone enlighten me so??
By the way not looking to sell any but do have a vested interest as I have like 6 of these (6 keepers in my eyes)

Explain VNA Special value, by kember on Aug 17, 2016 14:03:05 GMT 1, I'd say it's a combination of a few things, but yeah mainly that it's a magazine, it won't remain timeless, it's content will become outdated, it's easily damaged and hard to frame, it's not really comparable to a print on say, reclaimed cardboard, or a piece of aluminium - that item becomes a single work of art unto itself.
Aside from that, a lot of the VNA stuff comes as a set, which sort of bunches it together with collectables (toys, sculptures etc) rather than art people put on the wall.

Explain VNA Special value, by geoffw on Aug 17, 2016 17:34:26 GMT 1, So as someone invovled in the mag there are a few different things to consider. For our LE not all are done in the same way and also aren't really comparable to say a larger print by the same artist. But a couple i'd say are comparable to the artists print work: 3D glitter covers, Faile (who screened the cover themselves and then turned the image in to a book cover piece).

Explain VNA Special value, by Momo on Aug 17, 2016 20:46:14 GMT 1, Cheers geoffw and @kember .. appreciate your feedback.. I have the Harrington one framed out at the moment and on my wall http://instagram.com/p/oyZw-2Bve2 and love it. And as smishdown no longer framing I am bringing my other favoritesin my collection - Invader,Eine,Faile,Retna and D*Face to be framed similarly as soon as can afford it... Just as a note I usually buy a reg version of the mag anyway in store and read that one and try buy the LE seperately for the art and not to read..

But a couple i'd say are comparable to the artists print work: 3D glitter covers, Faile (who screened the cover themselves and then turned the image in to a book cover piece). I'd add the Swoon VNA. I got the Swoon LE cover which is (partly) silksreened, and my version is even pencil signed on the front. I consider that to be pretty close to a print too. One of the best things I ever won. I still have to frame it though.

Explain VNA Special value, by soupy on Aug 19, 2016 13:17:51 GMT 1, i'd be interested in tracking down an EINE vna #13 special edition package if anyone has one that they don't want (or is just gathering dust somewhere).
if not the whole package... i'd love to get a hold of the magnets. i have a rather large magnet collection of various interests and an EINE addition would be perfect.

Explain VNA Special value, by kapow on Aug 22, 2016 23:31:25 GMT 1, I've always wondered that too. I have a fair few of them and some of them are awesome. In particular the Paul Insect, Invader (especially the envelope), Vhils, Swoon and Retna ones are excellent. I think in terms of value even though many are signed and numbered, often the artist hasn't screened them personally. Also some of them are quite pixellated close up. Not the case with the ones I mentioned above though. Maybe also because they are smaller and harder to frame? Whatever the reason I hope they stay cheap so I can add to my collection. Wouldn't be able to otherwise!

Explain VNA Special value, by frankiefrench on Feb 3, 2017 8:33:13 GMT 1, I think they are excellent value for money as is/was VNA itself. Getting hold of them was a bit hit and miss as they were sometimes on sale at about ยฃ75? then a few made it into competition draws and I was lucky enough to get the Paul Insect cover issue with the pink envelope (African woman collage) for ยฃ40 with stickers and all sorts thrown in. An absolute steal. Framing the mag was not a problem and since then they have very kindly sent me a replacement issue (subscriber cover) with the woman face print on the cover. The dilemma being that I also like that one so much that it could end up getting a frame too.
As for value, it is very early days, in art terms these things have only just come out and we should not expect miracles for a few years just yet. I am sure they will become valuable but not really bothered about that as my clockwork Britain is here to stay. Is there a list of the artists printed cover editions?

Explain VNA Special value, by oxfordwelshchap on Feb 13, 2017 7:43:28 GMT 1, I just managed to pick up the Faile screen printed edition of 200 for 30 quid. Love the image. Think I'm going to get it framed.

Don't disagree with you, but I wonder if this "truth" would be altered if Banksy did an issue
