I had before reflex ( Canon etc ... ) but it was so heavy and not easy to carry ( with zoom etc .,,) that I have been fed and use my phone now.

What Camera Do You Use To Photograph Your Art?, by Daniel Silk on Sept 9, 2016 14:21:27 GMT 1, I think I haven't used my camera for about a year now  Most of the time as long at you have good light, the Iphone and Ipad take perfectly good photos. I think using them with good daylight is the trick.

As Daniel Silk says, as long as you have good light your phone should do the trick. The image also degrades when you zoom in on your phone, so try to avoid that.

I have some fairly decent DSLRs, lenses and compacts but I often just use my phone. I'd suggest that you download some decent free editing and photo apps. Snapseed is probably my go to editing app and Manual for taking shots (as it allows greater control over exposure etc).

What Camera Do You Use To Photograph Your Art?, by razorwire on Jan 19, 2017 11:11:45 GMT 1, When you stop to think about it, it is pretty amazing how far cameras on phones have come in a relatively short space of time - go back only a decade or so and using my phone for anything other that throwaway snaps seemed a crazy idea, and yet now my S7 Edge turn out really decent pictures. A decade or so ago a grainy VGA 640 x 480 pixels camera spec on a phone was still common, and the iphone still only introduced a 2 megapixel camera (with no flash or autofocus) at it's launch just over 10 years ago. Fast forward to now and look at the technology we have in our pockets, images from phone cameras on flagship models are very close to those from actual cameras apart from the obvious lack of optical zoom etc., and for most people their phone is their primary camera now.
Whilst it is amazing having such a good camera on me all the time in my phone, and the convenience and the fact it's always with me means it's what I use the most by a long way, I do find taking an actual camera out with me on a planned trip is much more rewarding. I only bought my first 'proper' camera last year (A Panasonic GX7 as it was going cheap at ยฃ300 with the cracking 20mm prime lens) but I've really enjoyed the whole process of learning about photography to get to shooting fully manual, and really enjoy taking photos with it. I went for a M43 camera as I though I'd be more likely to use it if it was smaller as opposed to lugging a great big DSLR out with me - it just about fits in a jacket pocket with a pancake lens so I'm not carrying a huge bag out. For me the results certainly justify the minor hassle of taking it with me.

Although this is quite old now it still takes good photos and is multi functional. I still take street art photos for VNA and edit some from Raw on iPhoto. However the downside is that there is no facility for social media and I tend to stick with an iPhone 6 which in the right light is fine. Regardless of camera a good street art photo should be about placement and context. Likewise in s gallery.
