now sold thanks! , by gravity1 on Oct 2, 2016 20:44:19 GMT 1, Let me just explain before some people decide to get on their high horse It's worthless because it has no coa It cannot be sold at auction , most Galleries will not accept it as it has no. Coa and therefore can be easily faked! Would anyone on here pay ยฃ5000 for any other gift print without a coa? I don't think so It's a gift intended for the original recipient ,the fact that an Anyone is trying to sell it on at a vast profit is just stupid. Sell it and give the money to charity ! That would be a much more worthwhile venture IMO, or even 50%? Personally don't see the issue in wanting to sell, it's theirs to sell. As for giving 'profit' to charity I can only assume that's what you do with your profit! From my experience @cat only offers pieces that were intended for sale that have COAs, so you can't really compare the sale of the two different categories. Of course anyone has the freedom to offer it just as the rest of the board has the freedom to express their opinion on it's value. IMO having this input from these different views is one of the main components that contributes value to this forum. I also think this is why bringing back comments to sales threads was essential and helps give direction to many others that just may not know better.

now sold thanks! , by Whitefish on Oct 2, 2016 22:56:44 GMT 1, This piece will sell... From a GREAT Seller!
All of those with a disposition should only be thinking one thing. Would have , could have, should have....... Buy it if you can afford it. I have delt with several EX-dismal employees and the majority of theses gift print have settled in homes of collectors.
OPTIONS: Buy a GWB find an original street piece that has removed not yet marketed or stick to the galleries for sourcing
Banksy has done a fantastic job in controlling his/her/their inventory so far. Please someone pull the trigger so we can close this thread.

now sold thanks! , by Deleted on Oct 2, 2016 23:54:42 GMT 1, side note, auctions sell pieces without COA constantly, even pieces that an artist's foundation says they will not verify. An example would be any Haring subway piece. Haring himself didn't consider them to be art.
Worthless?

now sold thanks! , by gravity1 on Oct 3, 2016 1:34:44 GMT 1, Again, comparing apples and watermelons. No reputable auction houses accept Banksy works w out a COA and for good reason, one being the artist is ALIVE and can still authenticate anything he wants. Even if you were to stretch your warped logic with this comparison, the Haring piece you linked to a) Is from a deceased artist and b) was acquired directly form the artist by the owner. Anyway ...moving on.

A. Foundation is as good as living artist with regard to authentication. And with the recent trend, you are not going to see authentication period unless laws change to protect. B. Dead artist actually preferable in many instances, so no Cady Noland issues. C. The whole page of Phillips has Subway pieces, not all acquired from artist. If you go to the big boys, they have sold subway pieces as well. Pieces the artist himself said were, "not art," and for whom there was never authentication. D. Auction houses will sell whatever they can get their % from, especially in a down market. BET.
Banksy is not special and anyone who can make money on his work will.

now sold thanks! , by anodyne13 on Oct 7, 2016 19:25:55 GMT 1, I think the personal dedication on the front holds down the value more than lack of COA on these, if you can get a little provenance from the original person it was gifted to. (Their name matches name on print, record of being involved at Dismaland etc.)

now sold thanks! , by Pistol on Oct 8, 2016 8:10:27 GMT 1, For the record, apparently these are not 'worthless'. Anything is worth what someone is willing to pay for it, and I had lots of potential buyers for this print. Maybe some people should wait until the conclusion of a thread and think before they speak.I clearly stated at the start of the thread that I did not want this to turn into a farce. It's not rocket science. Some just cannot resist...... Thanks for all the interest and thanks to all those who actually 'contributed' to the thread, its people like you that make this an interesting and informative place to visit ๐ Peace!
