Stencil challenge!!! Get involved!, by Dr Plip on Oct 18, 2016 17:29:24 GMT 1, Stencil cutting is KNACKERING. I am broken. I don't know where the professionals find the wrist strength from. Truly. My wrist hurts, my back hurts, my neck hurts. I've run out of latex gloves, so I had to put a balloon on my hand, and that doesn't work. As far as I'm concerned, Banksy has earned every penny that he has.

Ha ha true!....aside from the cutting actually using some creativity to make the stencil suggestive of shapes and negative space but not look like a photoshop job I find incredibly challenging but it's so satisfying when it works out!

Off to US soon, but hope to finish at least a first version. Going more for the idea then a perfect image here.
Good fun!

Acetate is cool but is too clinical I reckon, use it sometimes but paper gives a more artistic finish in my humble opinion.

Yeah, I like the durability of it, but I don't like the shapes or edge that it gives you. I think I prefer a softer cut, more natural shape. If that make sense.

Yes perfect sense...has its uses. Have you ever looked at the stencil burners for acetate? That may possibly work for getting a freehand edge....probably stinks though!

Yeah, I like the durability of it, but I don't like the shapes or edge that it gives you. I think I prefer a softer cut, more natural shape. If that make sense. Works well for outside walls. Much better in wind or rain. I don't use photoshop. I cut the layers freehand, so I basicly draw the layers with my knife. So I print my image 6 or 8 times (or 20) on paper and then cut into the prints.

Good work mate....I like the idea of imbuing an inanimate object with aspiration. A nice metaphor. Like the colours too. Taking on lettering as well...that's some learning curve.

Stencil challenge!!! Get involved!, by Icesay on Nov 2, 2016 21:25:34 GMT 1, Oh I just wanted to mention that...anyone who enjoys stencil art should be having a go at this!....don't play then how could you possibly comment on any stencil art. Don't judge until you have walked a mile in their shoes! So get out there buy a little cutter, some paper, spray and cutting mat and have some fun!

Stencil challenge!!! Get involved!, by Dr Plip on Nov 4, 2016 20:59:12 GMT 1, Scalpel blade just snapped on me and I felt the blade brush past my cheek.
I haven't found the blade yet.
I'm worried it might be in my face.
