New Faile "Eastern Suspenso" Print, by pcant on Oct 27, 2016 4:43:40 GMT 1, I like these but must say he seems to put a lot of prints out. But I guess if they sell good for him. I was curious is their a link or where can I find out how to buy the bottom right one? I don't have a Faile print and I am a car person this might be one I would like to purchase.. Minor point, but FAILE are actually two guys, both named Patrick, and the collective used to include Aiko as well, although she has her own career now.

New Faile "Eastern Suspenso" Print, by davievegas on Oct 27, 2016 17:52:46 GMT 1, No interest in this and the price should be around $350 for an edition of 300 not $495. Easy pass for me. Especially since they release a lot of prints at high editions. Rising prices consistently with high editions always scare me off.

New Faile "Eastern Suspenso" Print, by Wearology on Oct 27, 2016 22:56:06 GMT 1, I am very surprised this print has not sold out in the past 6 hours. Maybe the Peanut Gallery was right in their assessment that it was priced too high and the edition size was too much for the price. It looks like Faile has fallen victim to Brexit and the 30% change in the Pound versus the Dollar.

New Faile "Eastern Suspenso" Print, by davievegas on Oct 27, 2016 23:19:13 GMT 1, I am very surprised this print has not sold out in the past 6 hours. Maybe the Peanut Gallery was right in their assessment that it was priced too high and the edition size was too much for the price. It looks like Faile has fallen victim to Brexit and the 30% change in the Pound versus the Dollar. To be honest, I hope other artists have this same issue. Maybe if they stop selling out with mediocre work, they might start making better art/prints. I for one am tired of artists putting out whatever and it still sells out. You can blame brexit if it makes sense to you. I personally just think the edition and the price is what killed this drop.
BUT for conversation appeal, lets look at it in another way. If you have been paying attention to the market for Faile in the past two years, you will see the decline in "worth buying trends" in there work. Whether thats investment or just appeal. If you do some research, there work has not been going up in any way. Originals are staying un-purchased on ebay for 6 months to a year or longer. I have purchased 3 pieces of Faile's within the last 5 years and even my purchases that are 3-5 years old have not budged in terms of selling more then cost. I do not know what the current auction market is but I am also seeing less and less work of Faile's being sold in auctions.
Maybe there work is just not appealing anymore and buyers are not so interested. Also, I feel Faile's images are starting to be played out for my liking. That is a personal opinion not a fact of his market direction.

New Faile "Eastern Suspenso" Print, by sugar72 on Oct 28, 2016 5:33:02 GMT 1, Sold out!
I agree to a certain extent but applies to a certain body of their work. There work is a broad portfolio and some pieces are a lot harder to get than others and when they do come up they move quickly. Some pieces can hang around the bay etc for longer but I believe a combo of market influences and less desirability of some, prices go up and down for most assets anyway over time.
I have chatted with many top forum members about Faile and I think it is opposite particularly for their older pieces I.e pre 2010, there is a hungry market out there and this possibly goes back to your first point regarding the less successful more recent pieces.

I do not know what the current auction market is but I am also seeing less and less work of Faile's being sold in auctions. I think that the right pieces, priced sensibly, still sell very quickly on the secondary market. There was a beautiful edition from the LIGS series on here a few weeks ago that didn't hang around very long at all, for instance.
On ebay there's some are-you-absolutely-out-of-your-mind pricing on a couple of great pieces, which is why they're hanging around. There's a Sub Rosa in Black for £3k that's been hanging around for months (I'd say that's double market value) and a Happens Every Day that's currently on for a couple of grand over market value too, and hasn't sold.
There's definitely a market out there, especially for the >=2010 pieces, as others have said.
I think this was a strong release, but I have a lot of Faile on my walls and am not really interested in a large edition now, unless it's something spectacular.

Well said. I personally love Faile and my wall is also full. This is a strong set but I personally aim for pre 2010 pieces which are very hard to get at the right price. The only set of Failes post 2010 I obsess about is the 150 series only because I have all 8 (soon to all come back from framers!!) otherwise will make a call on other prints as and when they release.

New Faile "Eastern Suspenso" Print, by lifeonwalls on Oct 28, 2016 14:58:49 GMT 1, When you can buy a small original for $1500 from source a $500 edition of 300 doesn't seem all that special. Unless you're in love with the image there isn't much value there. I know most people don't buy art for the value but when editions are that large as an artist you need those types of buyers.
Faile'a imagery hasn't changed all that much in the years - which I'm fine with, I like it. But I've got my Faile collection filled with some small edition prints and book covers. No desire to spend $600 (NY tax) on such a large edition.

I'd personally live to buy more originals but things way out of my reach with Faile though what I like about a lot of there stuff Is the hand finishing which gives me a little bit of originality! 😀

Yes I'm definitely learning that lesson. My New Years resolution this yr will be less prints and more originals. I'd personally live to buy more originals but things way out of my reach with Faile though what I like about a lot of there stuff Is the hand finishing which gives me a little bit of originality! 😀

New Faile "Eastern Suspenso" Print, by kwatis on Oct 29, 2016 15:39:17 GMT 1, I like these but must say he seems to put a lot of prints out.
Also included Bast as well and yes both Aiko and Bast went their own ways. Some old Faile imagery cannot be used as it was contributed by Aiko/Bast. For instance the butterflies which was Aiko.

New Faile "Eastern Suspenso" Print, by chads007 on Oct 29, 2016 18:09:13 GMT 1, I am very surprised this print has not sold out in the past 6 hours. Maybe the Peanut Gallery was right in their assessment that it was priced too high and the edition size was too much for the price. It looks like Faile has fallen victim to Brexit and the 30% change in the Pound versus the Dollar.
Or more likely, it wasn't a great image as the consensus goes

New Faile "Eastern Suspenso" Print, by chads007 on Oct 29, 2016 18:34:56 GMT 1, I didn't keep track as didn't like the image. Do like top right like others. Least fans had time to decide and buy rather than f5/lotto

Just checked later at night as I was curious when it would sell. I prefer top right, probably because of the more Faile feel of it but all spent up at moment. I suspect though that will go within half hour or so!?😀
