R.Crumb/Alina Crumb at David Zwirner, by Deleted on Jan 28, 2017 9:55:26 GMT 1, I like Crumb comics and his ink art. He never held back on exaggerating people.
Comic art is undervalued as art and it takes a lot of work to make a comic.

R.Crumb/Alina Crumb at David Zwirner, by Deleted on Feb 15, 2017 16:11:47 GMT 1, dreadnatty - I love Crumb, thanks for sharing these ! The best ever. The guy behind all adult comics and cartoons. Even the popular French adult comics (Franquin, Goetlieb, etc.) comes from Crumb. But I really dislike Aline's stuff, don't know why ? Also, something very odd with the Crumb family, they run a gallery in small town in France and Alex Crumb (Robert's Crumb) lives there too and sells lot of signed Crumb on Ebay. He said in interview that the way he earn money, many are suspected Alex to sign the stuff himself (and not Robert). I asked Aline and Alex by email about this, got no reply. So beware if you see signed Crumb stuff solf by Alex Crumb on Ebay. Baskhi is currently selling lot of stuff on his Ebay account too, fully signed with COA. @elviswarhol - Sure but believe me Crumb's price is clearly not undervalued. 300-400 USD for standard giclee and original goes for hundreds of thousands. ********* Some historical stuff - Crumb got a lot of problem for 2 comics he did, "When the ni**ers Take Over America!" and "When the Jews Take Over America!". I am not sure but it is the main reason why he left USA. It is true that comics are shocking and violent and many will fail to see get the sarcasm/irony. But then, it is quite funny to realise that FBI/CIA were doing exactly the same in the 60s/70s, they were publishing fake black panther comic books showing black people killing white people just to scare the white population, it was called COINTELPRO - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/COINTELPRO I think Crumb lives near Nimes.
I doubt he fled the US, it's more likely he decided to live la belle vie in an unspoilt old part of the south of France with sunshine, good wine and all that stuff.
www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/1540766/American-defends-French-idyll.html
I think Crumbs comics were intentionally shocking and back then it was easy to shock just to shock without being a racist. Back then there wa sno internet and online petitions and lobbyists groups who could organise a mass protest to control free speech.
Viz is similar but not as good as Crumb.
I'm sure today that if people read Crumbs comics and find them distasteful it might come as a surpise that they were distasteful back when people wore flared trousers.
I find religious books have a lot of dsitasteful stuff and prmotion of distatsetful stuff in them. Crumbs comics are dark satire , religious books are guidance.
I prefer Crumb.
(Fake propaganda is being promoted even more these days via the mainstream media and politics.)

Have guy's (who obviouslt know a lot about him) Seen the movie Crumb by Terry Zwigoff? It's the best documentary. Also curious, anybody know the price of a an original like the ones on top of the page? I haven't seen the documentary. Gonna check it. No related to Crumb but this documentary is the best I have seen ! Signed prints are between 500 and 1000 USD For an original by Crumb, lot of different prices. Most of them are between 2,000 and 20,000 USD. But then, most sought original (from major books or early Zap) are between 35,000 and 80,000 USD, some reaching 100,000 USD and plus. Shelton works are slightly cheaper. Considering these drawings above are recent, they should be average 1,500 and 3,000 USD imo. Lot of results here with prices, free login (no card details needed) - comics.ha.com/c/search-results.zx?No=288&Ns=Time%7C1&Nf=ArtistID|BTWN+500117024+500117024&N=52+790+231 Oh !! And if you have an official Crumb print and don't need it, I may be interested to complete my 10 years old wishlist Comic art sales and auctions are very healthy with prices rising fast. Frazetta paintings go for over a million dollars these days.
I'm sure Crumb must have a few sketches kicking about he might sell if approached nicely.

It has many similarities to the Crumb docu, which unfortunately is hard to find. I saw it on apple tv.
I also wish I had Crumb Artwork, thats why I asked, heh.
