Banksy in the Daily Mail, by Guest on Feb 23, 2008 2:25:12 GMT 1, You may have better info than me, but I was told by a particular auction house, apropos of nothing (I have never sold a piece of art) that artists must provide their name and address to collect on the AR cash and failing that the auction house was opbliged to retain the money until the artist does. Any personal information given to a gallery would be confidential. thats how bidders stay anonymous ;D

Banksy in the Daily Mail, by funster on Feb 23, 2008 2:32:02 GMT 1, I think the reality is a lot of people know who he is and it surprises me that without a great deal of research its fairly easy to find out who he is and how to contact him. Either journalists aren't that shit hot afterall or they couldn't really care less. Today I saw in one paper as shortlist of 3 people who the Stig could be, all of which were wrong

Banksy in the Daily Mail, by Strange Al on Feb 23, 2008 10:01:06 GMT 1, You may have better info than me, but I was told by a particular auction house, apropos of nothing (I have never sold a piece of art) that artists must provide their name and address to collect on the AR cash and failing that the auction house was opbliged to retain the money until the artist does. please send payment to: Banksy c/o LAZARIDES No 8, Greek Street Soho, London W1D 4DG guess that problem is solved.
I presume by AR you mean the Artist's Resale Right? By law the ARR can only be collected through a collecting society - it cannot be paid directly to the artist, waived or assigned. There are a number of competing collecting socities in the UK at present, which collect on the ARR. It looks like Banksy is registered with DACS (the main collecting society in this field) - www.dacs.org.uk/. In practice DACS collects the money from the Auction House ("Art Market Professional") and then redistributes it to the relevant artist (minus an admin fee). In Banksy's case it wouldn't suprise me if payment is made through Laz, though it could be made directly by DACS to Banksy. Either way, an artist would not be required to give their details to the auction house in order to collect on the ARR.

Banksy in the Daily Mail, by tickz on Feb 23, 2008 16:33:28 GMT 1, What is the Stig
the stig is a test driver for a motoring tv show (topgear) that has become cult viewing, you dont have to like cars especially to like it.the stig has a secret identity apparently because he is not allowed by his insurance/current driving team to risk himself.there have been 2 stigs (Black and white) the original black stig was apparently Damon Hill for a time.have a look at youtube.there is plenty of topgear/stig related stuff

Banksy in the Daily Mail, by schnulli on Mar 1, 2011 3:16:38 GMT 1, I could put a hat on and have someone take obscured distance shots of me that'd pass for Banksy. These don't really prove much, other than it'll help them shift a few extra copies of the paper.

Banksy in the Daily Mail, by naughtyshorty on Mar 1, 2011 7:30:38 GMT 1, ha ha ha.
as for the pic, the only 'evidence' is that this is a pic of a person with a camera near banksy's work. proves nothing, neither does what he's wearing. also, why is the dude taking pictures of the back of the drum rather than the front where the writing is?
I personally think that the odd thing is that despite this person being clearly shot for a series of pics, not one of them is particularly clear or straight on. why are the only pics published crap ones, unless these were leaked pics, and banksy throwing the heat off him.. and that wouldnt be the first time..

Banksy in the Daily Mail, by ilmambo on Mar 1, 2011 9:19:34 GMT 1, so do you want me to belive that THESE are the only pics? the photograph took 2 bad pictures and that's all? if they wanted to do a scoop at least post some good photos! I'd say that he's one of banksy assistants, probably taking pictures for his website.
