Why are galleries and artists so terrible at packing prints?, by Deleted on Aug 12, 2017 14:47:26 GMT 1, Only slightly relating to this thread but anyone heard of this practice before? I had an email a few days back from the unit london and they were asking if I was interested in the Will Martyr print. If I was the shipping cost would be ยฃ19.50 and if picking the print up it would cost me ยฃ3.75. Not a lot of money but ยฃ3.75 to pick it up when they were charging ยฃ800 for the print is a bit off in my eyes. I've never heard anyone charging for you to pick it up! How odd. Maybe ask them if you just walked in off the street would there be a surcharge? Assume the gallery picked up this type of thing from ticket websites that love to add spurious charges. Still defintely not acceptable because the cost for handling and overheads should be included and factored into the print cost.

The last three prints I got from POW were the worst packed prints I have ever had.

Probably run out of a bedroom now Pow as a company died when the shop closed years ago

Last print I bought from pow (rectangular) was actually rolled along the longest dimension (!) rather than the more sensible and normal shorter - also rammed in the skinniest (and no doubt cheapest) tube going. Ok it was only a few hundred ยฃยฃยฃ but needless to say it has never totally recovered. I stuck it in a flat file and hoped the wrinkles would eventually drop out, but months later it was much the same. Probably should have sent it back straight away but too late now๐
