Give it a rest..., by lorraballs on Sept 1, 2017 18:23:44 GMT 1, This is one of the most banal, pointless, unpleasant threads I have ever read, even in this seventh circle.
'OMG! Like, tired of oranges in still life oils!' 'Worrabout those smirky girls! Give it a rest, Leonardo! Lolz!' 'Call that a splash? Pollock? More bollock'
Question the artist, not the trope.

Give it a rest..., by chrisell66 on Sept 1, 2017 18:24:02 GMT 1, Was thinking of doing a new shark. Shark in neon colours with Marilyn Monroe hairdo and a tear from it's eye, placed on a book cover surrounded with children playing with Mickey Mouse holding a gun being arrested by a policeman wearing a Darth Vader mask, under a Rainbow with a butterfly on top of it. Painted on a dollar bill. I will call it : Forum's Nightmare Any pre-orders ? Rainbows and butterflies - I'm in - do love a rainbow - you can never have too many Rainbows. Rainbows and butterflies weren't on my list.
And on that thought - I want a Zippy f***ing Bungle print - or George with a huge spliff . Now first use of Topley the Hare or Itsy and Bitsy gets a prize - and a bus pass probably if you remember what the hell I'm wittering about now. If you're not from the UK - imagine Sesame Street after the script writers were dosed with hallucinogenics in the 1970/80's and then stuffed on the TV at midday.
And exactly how has Magic Roundabout escaped all the cultural appropriation?
Oh bugger - thats Brainwash fuelled for a few more years between us all

I have read it as a light hearted bit of fun, on a sunny Friday afternoon, rather than a serious art critique. No harm in that. In fact it makes a pleasant change from reading people insulting each other, which seems to be the now acceptable behaviour on here. Maybe start a thread about a better subject?
Edit - what is the 7th circle?

In the Middle Ring, the poet sees suicides who have been turned into trees and bushes which are fed upon by harpies. In the Inner Ring are blasphemers and sodomites, residing in a desert of burning sand and burning rain falling from the sky."
I don't think this forum is that exciting ;-) More like the 10th circle "people with no sense of humour and a preference to criticising vs creating"

Give it a rest..., by brycepen on Sept 1, 2017 19:12:24 GMT 1, I suppose it's pretty easy to come up with things that we're tired of, but can anyone come up with things that they would like to see more of or haven't seen yet? btw, i'm tired of blurred faced portraits.
Isn't coming up with new ideas exactly what artists should be doing? It's not our job as forum commentators to come up with original art ideas. And making original art isnt supposed to be "easy". I think most forum members do enough by BUYING original, creative art.

You can bash them for rehashing, but does that make us better if we can recognize repetition?

Speak for yourself. I'm an artist and I'm very dedicated to producing work that is authentically my own rather than borrowing a blatant rehash of someone else's work. Shouldnt artists be working toward developing their own style? Isn't original self expression the point of being an artist?!

Personally I was giving a damn good kicking to lazy art and having a bitch to pass a rainy day whilst reading properly trite e mails - if Dante's right I'm spending eternity dodging fire from the sky whilst burning my toes so worrying about my other sins is pointless. I'll slag the trope off too if I want (once I've googled it to find out what it means - but I get distracted by old episodes of Pipkins and Tales from the Riverbank - so that'll take a while).
The 10th circle is Shoreditch I'm pretty certain of that - you spend eternity being patronised by someone with an ironic beard and a trust fund who uses words like Dude without any irony. The 9th circle is being made to read Dante again (and you can't even rent the film to save the effort of reading it) - medieval sarcasm wrapped up in Catholic guilt except its far worse than it sounds especially when you realise its a poem. Okay the first 20 pages are worse than it sounds - well maybe 5 pages ...... Must be a classic though its unreadable and they use it to make teenagers miserable .
