Collective commissioning of emerging artists?, by caruso on Sept 5, 2017 8:11:27 GMT 1, This was initially a reply to a post by Earl Grey 2nd in the who to collect or not thread. I decided to post this as a new thread to get your thoughts on this and see is we can action it.
Maybe we could commission collectively in this forum. Emerging artists with a very low signed numbered run print. I'm thinking 10-25. Not originals but affordable for sure and if the artist had a breakthrough they will remember we sort of helped on the way. Good way to get first access to future releases, oh yes and own a pricey limited run.
I'd be up for it, surely there are enough members in this forum to get 10 people wanting some work from a given emerging artist. Instead of fighting in writing at times, we should use the fantastic power of leverage this forum can give us and be a driving force in the community.

My fear on this one is that Pejac may have already emerged a bit too much! You don't know until you ask though! Good luck.

Small-scale, small-run, easily framed and well priced editions by artists whose work I've seen on streets would have a very good chance of being hung. Pejac might be a bit optimistic, but would also be fantastic and there's no harm in asking. Generally I think this idea would work best with artists who don't really have a secondary market yet, allowing the forum to focus on patronage rather than profit.
