Appeal to all UK Street artists, by waspi on Oct 7, 2017 7:26:09 GMT 1, WASPI - women against state pension inequality is a campaign for justice for women born in the 1950s who have been forced by the government to wait up to an extra six years for their pensions with no notice. Although we agree that men and women SHOULD retire at the same time, they should have made transition arrangements for this and not thrust it upon this particular generation of women in the way they have. we would like you all to please help make our campaign more known by putting a purple wasp on the walls and pavements of the UK. Thanking you in advance! WASPI X

Appeal to all UK Street artists, by chainsaw on Oct 7, 2017 10:27:25 GMT 1, The bloke who took the uk to eu court to complain about sexual inequality in retirement age? He won and forced the uk to equalise pension age, and the law got changed in 1995.... 22 years ago
Of course instead of reducing mens age they have increased womens pension age, from 60 to 65 slowly over 8 years so "no one has to wait more than 18 months extra to get their pensions" (or something like that) to comply with EU rulings, rather than an instant jump.
From 2019, the state pension age will increase for both men and women, reaching 66 by 2020 and 67 between 2026 and 2028.
The "extra 6 years with no notice" is really 25 years notice 1995 to 2020. It also effects men now too, and was done to treat both sexes equally when it came to pensions.
Be thankful they haven't got rid of it altogether yet, i'm half expecting them to do that - especially if they reduce immigration of working age people who pay the pensions of those retired.

Norway saw this problem coming, and put their North sea oil money away to pay for the up coming pension demand increase.... Thatch just gave tax breaks to the rich.

Appeal to all UK Street artists, by patc on Oct 7, 2017 11:50:15 GMT 1, Sorry Chainsaw, you've been swallowing government propaganda.
I didn't expect street artists to be so reactionary. Most seem to think for themselves. Please read up on the facts and don't rely on vaguely understood ideas and then throw in "or something like that". If you don't know for sure, find out before you contribute.
The EU recommended equalisation of pension age but did not say that women's pensions had to be raised level with men's. Some EU countries have levelled men and women at age 63 with ample notice and some have lowered men's SPA (State Pension Age).
They decided to raise women's pension age in 1995 but, by their own admission, they didn't inform the women involved. They did take out an advert in the inside pages of the Financial Times ( not known for its appeal to ordinary working folk). No letters were sent out until 2009 and many were not sent at all. The government accepts that they got that wrong but they wont do anything about it.
In 2011, they decided to raise the age again. After pressure from some MPs, they decided to limit this extra rise to an additional eighteen months. This brought women's SPA to 65 by November 2018, followed by a further increase to 66 by October 2020. With the second stage, men's spa will also rise to 66. This can all be verifed on government web pages.
So wonen born in the 50s are getting their pension anything up ti 6 years later than expected. Some were never notified.
There are many women who are not in work and who receive not one penny in pension who will have no income for six years. Most of these have paid 35 - 45 years of N I contributions.
What are they supposed to do to keep warm and eat for six years?
During this period of time, Mrs May ensured that she and her mates would stay warm and well fed by voting a raise in MPs salaries. She also gave 1 billion pounds to the DUP to buy their votes.
If you don't want ant to support us, that is fine, but please don't spread misinformation or make us out to be spongers and liars.
We are your sisters, your mums, aunts and grandmas.
I look forward to seeing the work of any who do choose to support our basic rights.
Slainte!

WASPI women need all the support they can get and some stunning purple wasps would really make an impact.

Appeal to all UK Street artists, by patc on Oct 9, 2017 21:48:31 GMT 1, Hi cmc,
Not in the news as much as it might have been but the WASPI WOMEN are very organised and determined and it is getting harder for the media to ignore so there is some publicity now.
There was a noisy demonstration outside the Conservative conference last week.
We are not going away.
Hoping to see lots of wee purple wasps. If I was artistic, I'd paint them myself.
Slinte Mhah!
