You know something, you just can't keep your big mouth shut. Your on this site morning noon and night and you do noting for the site only slate people who don't give a damn about your stupid comments. Have you no other life at all. Why don't you spend a bit of time helping out someone, as your just a nuisance to all here. for sure for sure

Lets get rid of the bullies for good!, by Dibbs 45 on Feb 22, 2018 0:26:26 GMT 1, We need more threads about members who fail to give chocolate Hobnobs to buyers when they visit to purchase an item of art. They said they would but when push came to shove, they didn’t offer that gem of a biscuit. You know who you are.
Now that was a funny thread.

Lets get rid of the bullies for good!, by Meskell on Feb 22, 2018 4:49:42 GMT 1, One should have to pass a sensitivity questionnaire before becoming a member.
p.s Expressobeans removing the ability to comment on "for sale" threads was one of the best things to happen to that place although I know many would disagree. However, it does/did keep shady sellers in check. And by shady, I don't mean flippers.

Stopping people from commenting on for sale threads actually keeps shady sellers in business by allowing them the ability to lie and misrepresent who they are and what they’re selling without fear of anyone calling them out.
So yeah, count me among the many that would disagree.

So yeah, count me among the many that would disagree. It is a negative. However, there's another thread over there that is dedicated to identifying those that are known scammers. Luckily, there are more than a few members that are very helpful when it comes to alerting others when a seller shouldn't be trusted. The positive is the for sale threads are fewer and farther between as opposed to when comments were allowed and because they can't get bumped without a mod's approval they don't stand out front and center on every page of the forum.

Lets get rid of the bullies for good!, by Daniel Silk on Feb 22, 2018 5:37:23 GMT 1, It's a reflection of society in general and the art scene. It's very hard to continually weed out people who lie or post abuse as it ends up being at least half the population, so it not really a practical task. Blocking and banning members is not a 100% sure thing due to the setup of the Internet, so it's a worldwide problem not just something we experience here on the forum. In an ideal world everyone is kind, honest and genuine, but sadly that's not reality.

Lets get rid of the bullies for good!, by irl1 on Feb 22, 2018 18:46:57 GMT 1, You all have a point. I agree about the scammers 100% percent, they should be called out. Its the reason i joined here to point out that stupid rule paypal have (see my first thread) Yes people can be called flippers, but the real hardcore abuse is out of order. Lets say one of these lads were at an auction, would they hurl that abuse at the auctioneer if he was selling for a flipper? Can't see it, so why do it here. To be honest i understand people can loose the run of themselves in a slagging match, we all do it, but the hardcore abuse is too much. Maybe ill start a new thread, "Abusive Posts Wanted" then anyone that wants to call each other out can do it there.

Lets get rid of the bullies for good!, by moron on Feb 22, 2018 21:35:45 GMT 1, Regarding the Walled Off Hotel souvenir wall pieces etc. Everything walled Off has been flipped on this forum by everyone and their dog with no problems. I didn't get the sudden knee jerk reaction about the OP selling or flipping souvenirs. There again I have seen on places like Ebay where someone might be selling something or other and rival dealer or dealers try to get the seller discredited. Call me a moron but i'm sure there could be people who use this forum to sell and dislike competition.
Plus I noticed recently some threads spoiled by a couple of people who decide to have a public argument on a thread.
I wonder is it all staged?

I get the initial argument but this thread went south fast. Also where would all the little guys get a chance to feel tough if there weren't any forums? Rather here then have them out there harassing little kids.

I didn't know shit and liked pretty pictures so I'd have happily bought a fake or from a scammer if it wasn't for people pointing it out.
Disabling this function of the board would turn it into ebay without a rating system where scammers could easily make a lot of money off of people.

I agree completely
The solution to this is to get rid of 'for sale' posts altogether.

Quite often when a high value item is up for sale, neither the seller nor the ultimate buyer would like pics in public domain so im not sure if pics need to b in a sale thread.

Define unwanted people?
someone that disagrees with someone's point of view?
Someone who takes offense to flipping?
Someone who takes offence to profiteering from charity?
Someone who calls someone out as being disingenuous?
Someone that tries to stop hyping or ramping of a peice?
Someone that talks down prices?
I don't really like the idea of binning people because they have the arse with someone over the way they have presented their sales pitch.
i don't think there is an answer to this.
What would improve things a lot would be plain old fashioned honesty from the sellers. oh, and some details, pics etc etc

The majority of the arguing is on the sales threads.. I posted years ago to dan that a good start would be for the sales threads not to appear in the latest posts.. if you want to check sales they will be in sales area only, granted you will still get muppets arguing but these won't appear on the 'latest 'posts' (which a lot of members check daily) which would be great.. 👍

I don't really like the idea of binning people because they have the arse with someone over the way they have presented their sales pitch. i don't think there is an answer to this. What would improve things a lot would be plain old fashioned honesty from the sellers. oh, and some details, pics etc etc Most people and most sellers are honest.
It's just so easy these days for criminals to pretend to have something for sale that someone wants , know which answers to give and images to supply and rip someone off.
Buyers need to know who they are dealing with and if a seller gives shady answers or refuses to give a landline phone number plus verify their identity and address, why would anyone send someone thousands who doesn't do that?
After all when a seller puts an artwork for sale on this board, they have made the first move so it's up to the seller to prove they are legit.
People have to be very careful when doing international transactions.
I would never buy something off of ebay, I really liked all the dealings I had on here with people, so that wouldn't be my ideal solution. My ideal solution would be a team of moderators that just keeps the board clean of unwanted people. Lets get rid of the bullies for good!, by Deleted on Feb 22, 2018 22:30:09 GMT 1, I agree completely The solution to this is to get rid of 'for sale' posts altogether. 👍
this works for me, it's so simple........motion carried.... make it so :-)

There would b very few folks left on here if all of the above were dispatched !

Lets get rid of the bullies for good!, by irl1 on Feb 22, 2018 22:32:18 GMT 1, Its a great idea to get rid of the for sale section, but how would that affect members who have been here for many many years and are very well trusted. I'm sure from time to time the long-term members would use the for sale section. Also you still need to have the comments open on a for sale thread, as if another member spots a fake they can post it. Maybe set a time limit on when you can start selling, say 1/2 years, and also a certain amount of posts/threads. You can't really penalize everyone over a small few. I fully support members being closed down for selling fakes, but maybe suspend members for hardcore abuse for a week/month, and then let them back, that way they might think twice the next time.

Lets get rid of the bullies for good!, by Nuno on Feb 22, 2018 22:43:20 GMT 1, Make the for-sale threads invite only. We can all tell each other how trusted we all are, how nicely we’ve framed it and how well it has been priced. - jboy, is this like the whatsapp group you frequently speak of?
Or people could act like normal people, being honest, respectful and helpful?!
Thank you. Bye.

Lets get rid of the bullies for good!, by irl1 on Feb 22, 2018 23:00:08 GMT 1, Nuno, i would go with this part.. Or people could act like normal people, being honest, respectful and helpful.
But lets face it, there will be times when we loose the head with each other. Its just the tone on sales threads has gone way over board. then it goes further by the same person following the other around waiting to pounce on them again. As one person said, there are too many grudges held with members here, and they go on for years. If anyone has a barney with another have a long sleep and get over it.
