Today is election day! VOTE!, by Bill Hicks on May 3, 2018 17:34:51 GMT 1, THE voter ID system being trialled during the local elections has descended into chaos after constituents were turned away from their polling stations.
The Government is testing the new system in Bromley, Gosport, Swindon, Watford and Woking, with voters required to present personal identification before casting their ballot.
In March, a group of 40 charities and academics had demanded a rethink of the policy, claiming Electoral Commission figures showed there were only 28 allegations of impersonation out of almost 45 million votes in 2017, and one conviction.
