Bit of advice, by Dive Jedi on Mar 9, 2019 13:27:06 GMT 1, Hi all - looking for a bit of forum advice. Recently bought a Banksy Monkey Parliament poster - looking at it in the light of day there appears to be some banded toning along the bottom white border. Alarm bells ringing! Anyone else who has a legit version of the poster have this banding? My gut feeling is this is a scan - although the dimensions appear correct. Annoying cause it's in great condition but that might be because it rolled off the scanner last week Cheers in advance for feedback Could be from framing?
Would be interesting to know where you bought it. A well known auction site perhaps?

Bit of advice, by concrete jungle on Mar 9, 2019 15:46:04 GMT 1, Thanks DJ - Sadly yes it was that well known site! Wouldn't normally take the chance but a decent seller who to be honest is so far understanding - so I hopefully can send it back if needs be. I'd read somewhere the paper on these was slightly better quality than soup cans and the other Bristol show posters - this does not appear to be the case for this MP - I have legit copies of cans/the Bristol posters to compare...

Bit of advice, by hoolz on Mar 9, 2019 19:59:27 GMT 1, Hi,
Which way does the paper naturally curl?
I'm sure that the authentic posters curled inwards from original rolling by the museum. The paper was quite thick / stiff too and took ages to flatten out.
If it's rolled off of a large format inkjet printer, the image usually curves outwards i.e. image on the outside.
Hope this helps.

Bit of advice, by Masong on Mar 9, 2019 21:07:49 GMT 1, Even if it is legit I think that would annoy the shรฎt out of me. Once you know itโs there, itโll always bug you.

Bit of advice, by concrete jungle on Mar 10, 2019 0:35:19 GMT 1, Hi - thanks all - good and helpful comments and pretty much confirm what I thought - its not legit. Luckily the seller is decent and is going to take it back - turns out although they bought it back in 2009, but not directly from the museum. Some randomer has obviously been ink jetting these in their bedroom back in the day to make a few quid.
This is what this forum should be all about - really appreciate the 2nd opinions - cheers๐
