Katherine Bernhardt release at Counter Editions , by Eastend Boy 13 on Apr 23, 2019 20:16:03 GMT 1, I'm not sure the ceramics are hand-painted by her - it says: "Katherine Bernhardt x 4510/SIX limited edition 2019 ceramic series, exclusively at Forty Five Ten, based on artwork from the store's cafe, No Aloha. This is the first edition with a possibility of more editions to come. They are one of a kind, hand painted pieces. "

Katherine Bernhardt release at Counter Editions , by 19818914 on Apr 24, 2019 1:53:44 GMT 1, Crazy Doritos has dropped in price?? I ummed and ahhed between getting Garfield or Pink Panther. Went with the old adage of buy what you like. Went for Garfield - doh! Still my 10 year old self would whole heartedly support me! Still surprised thereโs such a gap between that and Pink Panther tho.
I think itโs just because pink goes better in most homes, and because the Panther might be more iconic. I agree that the Garfield was the better print of the two. But the most popular sometimes isnโt the best.

Katherine Bernhardt release at Counter Editions , by Express Post on Apr 24, 2019 2:05:36 GMT 1, I think she painted a lot of pink panthers first which put her on people's radars. The Garfield is a new thing, so people haven't picked on it yet. Crazy Doritos is still the superior image.

This particular Pink panther felt a bit straight for her by comparison but as you say itโs probably what sheโs best known for. Anyway, Iโll just stick Garfield on the wall and enjoy it!

Thanks for the heads up - just tried to check out on a plate & pitcher and it came up with an error. I did the same with one or two others I liked and more errors, so I'm assuming they're all gone & site's just not up to date:( It looks like they only ship to USA and Canada.

Katherine Bernhardt release at Counter Editions , by Express Post on Apr 24, 2019 13:13:43 GMT 1, A lot is about money these days. If the artist proves to be an easy flip, they will undoubtedly sell out. Case in point the KAWS Brooklyn museum prints. They aren't groundbreaking stuff. But their flip value certainly makes them worth buying at launch price. End of they day you answer to no one. You do you.

Katherine Bernhardt release at Counter Editions , by nighthawk on Apr 27, 2019 16:06:54 GMT 1, Don't think that was ever going "under the radar"...
Katherine has a much larger collector base than UAA. In fact, I'd argue that most who buy her works, don't frequent these boards.

Katherine Bernhardt release at Counter Editions , by Amber Halo on Apr 27, 2019 19:38:37 GMT 1, Except I think this work will be forgotten in 15 years time, unlike the three others you reference. Just my opinion, of course, but I do not think this has legs.
I think it's helpful to look at work by early-to-mid career artists and question: in 15-20 years, will the work be in the bin or in museums that matter. Again, just my thoughts. I do not own a crystal ball. Peace to you Blerd.

I'm not her agent, you're entitle to your opinion and at least it came with some expiation rather than "Hot mess" which felt a bit like you were trolling.
Who knows!? What I will say is that she's been around for years, has a very distinct style. She has recently sold out solo shows in Japan with Nanzuka and Xavier Hufkens. Massive collaborations with Disney and Nike and seems to be in important collections.
I definitely think her style is not for everyone and maybe not suited to the tastes of this forum which seems at times fixated on a dozen or so Artists who I believe like you do of Bernhardt won't be around. I personally think they have an even shorter lifespan.
I'm just trying to open up a few more Artists for discussion it can be disheartening, but I won't give up! HAHA.
Ps. Constructive debate is always welcome.

Katherine Bernhardt release at Counter Editions , by Express Post on Apr 27, 2019 21:34:48 GMT 1, It depends how famous they get and stay in the conversation.
Felix Gonzalez-Torres left instructions to fill a corner with an endless supply of candy and left a stack of endless photocopies at the gallery.
Fontana painted a canvas one colour and slashed the canvas.
Sol Levitt left a set of instructions on how to create the piece.
Piero Manzoni shat inside tins.
Kathryn Fridriks mixes and spills paint on canvases.
Douglas Gordon painted a canvas with vodka.
Abramovic sat on a chair and stared at people.
Dan Flavin leans fluorescent tube configurations in the corners.
James Turrell cuts holes in ceilings and gets you to look at the sky or fills a room with coloured light.
Ugo Rondinone paints desert rocks in fluro colours.
It's the art world. Anything can happen.
