The one that got away, by dirtypete on Apr 17, 2019 19:22:31 GMT 1, Mine was Girl with Red Balloon and a Barcode. At the time I remember stumbling out of The End night club and seeing a Banksy Laugh Now and was amazed when I found the poster (print) online. At the time ยฃ20 seemed like quite a lot of monkey and I couldnโt work out why anyone would pay ยฃ100 extra for a pencil signature.
The reason I missed gwrb and Barcode was my then girl, now my wife, was complaining why I was wasting money on stupid posters. By the time Iโd decided to buy them anyway they were sold out.
while she has grown to accept my collecting habits, there are still about two full portfolios she doesnโt even know exist. I have a few frames that let me rotate my prints and it sometimes takes her months to notice.

The one that got away, by Jeezuz Jones Snr on Apr 17, 2019 20:45:38 GMT 1, Mine was being in discussion by email with an artist direct about buying a canvas. ยฃ2k. My then partner said Iโd spent too much on art, so I didnโt buy. Same canvas later sold at auction for, if memory serves, a low six figure $ sum. Doh.
Wifeโs aye!! There was a black and white unsigned trolleys on eBay for 500 pound odd, told my wife itโs one of my favourite images and she said โ but itโs not signedโ.. good point I thought (at the time). Then I found a signed black and white for 2100 pounds, a lot of money at that stage of our lives. I should have just bought the f**ker on the credit card (like I did with a parla print behind her back ๐) We kept discussing and more discussion.. anyway they both sold and prices went up on the signed very quickly..
Then we made $100k profit on an apartment we sold late 2010 I contacted a US gallery to buy their Signed Girl With Balloon as an investment for the kids uni fund..I have the email somewhere but it was from memory either $14k or $16k. Wife talked me out of it again as we needed the cash to invest in a bigger house.. although not sure I would have gone through with it as a lot of money at the time.

The one that got away, by tab1 on Apr 18, 2019 0:47:11 GMT 1, Looking back every year and banksy prints increased by 1500-3000 gbp.. Think of the early traders that bought everyprint and traded them for ยฃ100-ยฃ300 profit on each one , lots of old threads here.. I remember a Bristol lady here had 4-6 rats including green selling them at ยฃ1000 each 7-8 years ago. Suppose chance you take could of went from the highs of nick walker spqr, miccalef to where they are now

The one that got away, by crashwilliams on Apr 18, 2019 6:43:37 GMT 1, Back in the day, telling all my friends about Banksy and being able to buy prints for 75/125 (Unsigned & signed) and no one being interested - id already bought several. I then wandered off, buying eelus, dolk and various others. Still think back on those days and wonder why I follow more of my advice and buy the whole lot!
Selling a signed jack & jill and grin reaper for peanuts - though at the time, it did get me out of a hole.
Contacted by a good mate, did I want to go halfs on a ยฃ1200 Banksy Canvas...
Ah well!

Unlike a lot on here, I never had chance to buy a Banksy canvas, but I remember clearly when POW had loads of prints, Grin Reaper, all the cans variants and so on. I only didn't buy a soup can as I couldn't decide on a colourway.

The one that got away, by Lroy on Apr 18, 2019 7:20:46 GMT 1, My Invader Paris kit, the Paris one ( green and red ) unsigned but of legend. Invader posted a pic after the cathedral burning. I had to get money for the Banksy Sales End so I had to sell art ( I never do usually ) , I asked my young son ( gone now - hope not forever - as my kit - sorry for the comparison lol, itโs not funny anyway -, as they are supposed to belong to my kids when I will die ( Iโm not rich so art will help them, just hope that they wonโt throw it in the dustbins ) and he told me to keep the 3D signed one - not as much beautiful. So I sold it - not too much, 2 K + a box set -, but i have lost a part of myself, a bit of Paris that was in my heart and soul - venirs !
Oh I know, you will say itโs not a Banksy or an artwork wit multiple K, but art is not only a question of money but history, heART, and love. Past and witness of a period of your life ! Yes Banksy, a lot have regrets, is it only for the actual value?

the monkeys with the safes series was another I liked, but don't know if that was available as print I just enjoyed seeing them all around on the streets of Bristol instead always wanted a print of the pic in my sig from johnny ball lane, but no idea if it was ever released. wasn't until much later that learnt of other artists.
wasn't even aware of the stik show at king of paint referred to above :-(

more stories than i really care to mention - most of them funny at one point or another.
regrets ? hmm not really - it is what you make it - if you can.. or in a few cases simply can't.
passed on a gwb dip - which i do regret but i was totally skint so.. i wasn't even close.
otherwise... got the cmyk in the end.

I think that boat has left the dock now unfortunately ๐ญ It really hasn't. with respect he's just starting out. He's not Banksy or Condo or even Connor Harrington. He has time to mess it all up and come back again several times.

If I had a spare $18k I would be crawling on my knees trying to get one of these prints. But alas, itโs tax time, and I just gave the fed all my cash. But yes, I will likely be telling how I could have had that JW print for $18k 10 years from now.

The one that got away, by Coach on Apr 18, 2019 14:03:06 GMT 1, My other two regrets (though I am not, by any measure, plagued by them) are: Not managing to agree a price (which now would be a pittance for a piece by him) for a small Miller penguin book cover original with a member on here. When I had the opportunity to buy a Blu drawing. At the time probably at a cost of around 1/15 of what I would have to pay now, if I could. I stupidly asked if the price was inclusive of vat, and in the moments wasted doing that it sold to a smashing chap on here. Both of these were years ago now.
