Agreed, his canvases look brilliant, although these two monoprints are not of an equal standard to the other pieces on that page, which I think is excellent.
I personally hadn't heard of Andrew until recently, when Red Propellor sent an email roundabout him (I think a couple of weeks or so ago). I haven't seen his work elsewhere.

Andrew Munoz @ Red Propeller, by scavos on Mar 22, 2008 14:03:12 GMT 1, Some info and pics from Munoz's own site...
"In my work I play with existing narratives found in folklore, mythology or children's literature whilst attempting to 'mythologize' modern phenomena. Good and Evil, the Grotesque and the Beautiful, and Tragedy and Comedy co-exist through the 'narratives' depicted in my paintings as well as references to the 'outsiders', 'freaks', and 'monsters' that may be found in a Diane Arbus photograph, an Anderson fairytale or a Goya etching. The figures depicted in the paintings are hybrids of familiar characters from folktales, and people, real or imagined, drawn from my memory as a child. The elements of my paintings go through a process of simplification, abstraction and refinement in order to elucidate those areas of my imagination that I can only express visually. I see the paintings themselves paradoxically as tales without narrative or as one paragraph narratives that encapsulate concepts or feelings in a similar way to Kafka's 'The Next Village' or the Grimms' 'The Wilful Child'.
