12 DAYS OF XMAS - BRISTOL 7th - 22nd DECEMBER, by Art-el on Nov 16, 2007 23:19:42 GMT 1, 12 DAYS OF XMAS โ ART SHOW
***press release***
STEAL FROM WORK, ART-EL & BEFORE CHROME present
12 DAYS OF XMAS.
A group show featuring 30+ of the worldโs most loved & loathed contemporary urban artists. Featuring a real mix of styles - stencils, fine art, sculpture, canvas, prints, video & graffiti from Cyclops, Nick Walker, Guy Denning, Beejoir, Dr.D, James Cauty, Misteraitch, Ghostboy, Eelus and many, many more (full list below).
The concept is laughably simple; a few of us got together, decided to do a show and asked our mates if they fancied sticking up a few pictures as well. Most said yes, they also asked what gallery we were going to use? Well, weโre not really into white walled galleries, 50% mark ups, over priced prints & cheap wine fueled opening nights. Weโd rather just find an old, unused building and see what happensโฆ
Someone jokingly mentioned that the old Bridewell Police Station would be an interesting venue. We obviously didnโt get the joke because weโve managed to get it! The big wooden entrance doors, the security paneled reception, the interview rooms, the charge desk and even all the old cells. The artists love it โ especially as many spent most of their formative careers avoiding the place!
The show has a very loose xmas theme (well we might manage to get a tree and some mince pies for the opening night) but more importantly itโs an amazing opportunity for a big group of like minded artists to get together and show their work in one of the most interesting venues youโre likely to see in a while. All the work on show will be for sale with a mixture of one off pieces and deliberately affordable print editions - a great way to fill those Christmas stockings!

12 DAYS OF XMAS - BRISTOL 7th - 22nd DECEMBER, by Art-el on Nov 17, 2007 1:04:42 GMT 1, I'm so glad you've found that ironic humour Jellya.
Titbits after a 18hr day and a ten o/c Friday nite press release......Bram don't peak too soon.
I did promise but it's a big team effort including the sterling efforts of Mrs Art-el, The Steal from Work duo, Lucas, Ruth from Bristol CC and without doubt The Artists.
Oh and Avon and Somerset old for vacating the best venue in Bristol.
We look forward to seeing you's all

12 DAYS OF XMAS - BRISTOL 7th - 22nd DECEMBER, by mred on Nov 17, 2007 7:56:17 GMT 1, MB - Awesome - The teasing of the previous thread is well and truely over.
You have managed to get a fabulous line up at a very interesting venue, just the Pieminister to sort out!!!
I look forward to seeing the "deliberately affordable print editions" as I for one over last month have spent far far far too much on art but unfortunately with a few up and coming releases cannot see it stopping quite yet.
I think unless most of the artist I like take next year off, I will have to sign into rehab for this art addiction.

His work is great.
I'm sure all of the moaners will wheel out comments like 'poor mans Micallef' and each to their own but his work is quality.

12 DAYS OF XMAS - BRISTOL 7th - 22nd DECEMBER, by Art-el on Nov 17, 2007 22:19:52 GMT 1, The way things are snowballing then probably yes for the opening night on the 7th.
But any time after that (during opening times) then rock on by and check it out.
Don't panic there's gonna be plenty to go around.
Full details regarding opening night will be confirmed by Monday at the latest.
