BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by Coach on Jan 12, 2020 14:03:05 GMT 1, I had understood that it was done to prevent a company’s attempts to assert intellectual property rights over a Banksy image. I seem to recall that there was a statement to that effect and a rebuttal from the company. There was, of course, also a show for people to go and see. And sales to lucky winners. I don’t see how Banksy can be held responsible for the nefarious actions of others. There will always be ne’er-do-wells seeking to take advantage of whatever he does. Not to mention raising a ton of money and awareness for the refugees. Trying to stir up the discussion, mister Silk ?
Yes, of course. Quite remiss of me not to mention that also.

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by Daniel Silk on Jan 12, 2020 14:34:41 GMT 1, Refugees? I dunno, I think awareness of that subject had already reached everyone. Maybe if that was the purpose and real message then I think the store was a strange choice. Sorry, I honestly find the whole thing confusing.
If it was about raising money for refugees, then surely a proper online store selling the GDP products in unlimited numbers, items delivered within a week, could have raised millions very easily. Plus it would have hit the market for fakes by flooding ebay with affordable official Banksy products.

That's immense and pretty unrealistic.
Don't understand what you're finding confusing. The intent of it is pretty clear, isn't it? It's exactly as explained by others replying to your previous post: stopping others taking ownership of his copyright; raising money; staging a show of new work and highlighting refugee issues.
Everyone may already be aware of the refugee crisis, but it's still happening so it should still be highlighted. You keep the conversation going. You do what you can to improve it. You don't just say, 'Well people know about it already so let's not bother'.
What fakes have flooded the market since GDP? If it's the giveaway posters, who cares? They're giveaways.

100% agreed. A whole Lot of people don't know who banksy is, yet alone that there is an ongoing refugee crisis.. this reminded people and encouraged people to donate, and that alone is enough, the rest is just frosting on the cake. i wouldn't doubt the following: laz or the next laz to come along and try to make a "legit" market out of gdp rats, throwers, crisis with some sort of coa...and people will fall for that like they fell for $900 tenners. #neverforget #savethesheeple #SharksinNemosclothing

Exactly. Just what I was trying to say, though with less elegance than you.

The tag seems official to me as well. Banksy is trying to copyright both GWB and FT, so if he did photo shop, he definitely did his research and ensured boy images were present on the GDP Label, which we already knew was to be included.

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by churchwood on Jan 15, 2020 17:03:09 GMT 1, I had a look at both images and they are different - some of the shadowing is different - but then I am cr@p with Photoshop so this could be easy to do and make them look different.
there is even an indentation in the bubble wrap where the left wing tip is sat
wtf am I doing wondering if a photo from someone I don't know is real and has won something I won't win.
this is a # first world problems post ain't it

Haha. I love it when this thread has an occasional existential collapse.

Tony the Tiger had been divided up into squares to use as packing.
