BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by Adcua on May 15, 2020 15:04:06 GMT 1, Shipping on the Thrower was 145£ if you won thru the GDP lottery. Anyone know what shipping was on the Banksquiat? If they're similar, then the Thrower most likely won't be framed for lottery winners.
If you click the Thrower on the website it states that framing isn’t included

Correct, I'm aware of this. However, there still seems to be a debate over it, so I just threw more info into the mix. I agree with the fact that I don't think it will come framed

Fair enough, I wasn’t aware of the debate around it. Shouldn’t think it will when it states its not

Those bought direct through PC will come in an artists frame. Those purchased through lottery will not.

I speculatively sent emails, but like most people never got a reply!

February 16 someone said that. No proof.

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by whatisart on May 17, 2020 0:00:47 GMT 1, ok...story/rant/advice needed time.
I’ve posted this elsewhere as well as PM’d a few folks here but I’d like some additional insight.
As a lucky winner of my first Banksy (and my first real piece of art!), I brought my Banksquiat to a reputable framed and paid a lot of money for the framing.
I was originally quoted $1600 USD with half up front.
Framer sent pics of completed work about a week ago and he took the liberty of cutting out the GDP instructions on the box and taping it to the back of the frame.
Most folks seem to think it’s no big deal but a few members here took particular offense to this being done and I’m kind of lost. initially i was kind of just taken aback. did the framer think that i would be totally OK with that? honestly, dk what to think.
Furthermore the total price was adjusted up $100. maybe that's what it cost to cut up the box.

I often have my framer do similar things to peices I have framed, even kept the POW wrapping paper and have it in the sleeve on one, I think it adds to the piece, just my opinion tho.

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by NYart on May 17, 2020 0:09:42 GMT 1, You got taken for a ride on the cost of framing that’s for sure. The glass, the only really expensive part of the job, assuming it’s museum glass/acrylic only run $2-300.
As you said, half of people think it was no big deal, other half wouldn’t have been happy. Really personal preference what people like to do about packaging and incidentals, some save, others toss. If you didn’t request they save the packaging, they could’ve as easily tossed it all instructions included. It’s not a COA, it’s not signed, it itself has no value. The print won’t sell for more or less without it in the future.

The framing is insanely expensive I know. It doesn’t help that I’m in an expensive city but I made sure the framing was conservation quality and completely reversible.

i think you have enough info on different views and opinions here. the sting from the frame job will last for a bit, but it is what it is.

You have a pretty valuable piece of art, definitely don't want it getting damaged due to a bad frame job.

yea, high price does not necessarily mean high quality

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by jaym3 on May 17, 2020 3:15:57 GMT 1, $1800 is a hell of a lot of $ to frame a print of that size, but also gotta look at it like this, you are paying that much to know it was done correctly verses saving and having it done wrong. You have a pretty valuable piece of art, definitely don't want it getting damaged due to a bad frame job. Ornate wood can be 100/foot. Not sure how people are saying 1800 is super high. It's a 70cm x 70cm print, even at $100 a foot with museum glass that's really high.

BANKSY Gross Domestic Product™, by looseleap on May 19, 2020 6:36:12 GMT 1, The Basquiat is looking great! Has someone received the Goldfish? I am curious if someone was able to purchase it as when I was at the GDP website last year it was shown as coming soon. This has been probably super late but it is due to me being lockedout of my account. Here is a photo of the Early Learning Counting Set I got from GDP.
