Charity Auction for Glasgow Children's Hospital Scanner , by mcgill14 on Oct 2, 2020 22:05:38 GMT 1, Thanks mrizzle....it's been a tough year for everyone but all charities are really struggling so anything that we can do to help them is an absolute bonus....
And I'm not sure about selfless I'm hoping for an OBE..... ..........joking of course.
Bottom line is kids don't choose to get sick and I know if any of mine had been ill when they were young or if any of my grandchildren got ill now I'd want them to be some where that was the best at what they do with the best kit to help them do it.
Have a great weekend.

Charity Auction for Glasgow Children's Hospital Scanner , by mcgill14 on May 10, 2021 18:44:16 GMT 1, Good Evening Everyone
Firstly I hope that this email finds you and all of your loved ones healthy and well. I thought that you might like an update on how the money raised at the art auction I organised and that many of you supported last year has been used. Through other fundraising we were able to buy the hospital the state of the art Fetal Cardiology Scanner and also a leading edge surgical microscope for use on very small babies. The art auction raised just over ยฃ26000 which was matched by my employer at the time giving a total of just over ยฃ46000.
In collaboration with the hospital I agreed to use this money to fund their financial inclusion service for a period of six months. This is a service that works with the parents of sick children who may be experiencing financial difficulty as a result of their child / children being hospitalised. This could mean loss of earnings, travel costs, temp accommodation etc. At a time when your child is unwell the last thing that you think of is finance and that is where the Financial Inclusion team comes in. They work directly with these parents to access financial support that they may not have been aware was available to them. In the six months from October 2020 to March 2021, which is what you funded, this team secured financial support of ยฃ1,001,282 which I think is trully amazing and is massivley down to your generous support of my crazy project.
I have now retired from work and based on this result I am considering attempting to organise a repeat auction in 2022. If any of you would be keen to support another crazy venture with me and the kids from Glasgow Children's Hospital please shout.
Thank you all once again for the amazing support during 2020 which I appreciate was a mad year for us all. Let's hope that the remainder of 2021 improves and that 2022 is a whole new chapter.
