Brian Jones 'Silver Trains', by s-editions on Mar 19, 2008 9:15:45 GMT 1, We thought you might like to know that there are now only 3 left from Brian Jones' edition of 10 of 'Silver Trains', an image he developed when working with Jamie Reid. These are rather special and are printed on 5 mm thick silvered acetate panels. Brian's work has been proving very popular with collectors as far afield as Singapore, and he has a great show of his paintings on at O Contemporary in Brighton at the moment.
We never re-edition pieces, so if you would like one of the remaining few please pop along to www.s-editions.co.uk. When they are gone, that's it!
All the best, s-editions

Brian Jones 'Silver Trains', by Francis on Mar 19, 2008 18:55:13 GMT 1, Hey why don't you just say they're sold out already and then just periodically come on here and go "oh...an order fell through and we have another one available...better hurry! these will increase in value 7 fold in 3 days!" That will get people to buy for sure.

Because that would not be honest and it is not the way we do business.

Brian Jones 'Silver Trains', by s-editions on Mar 20, 2008 8:20:37 GMT 1, We try to keep prices as reasonable as possible, but these thick drilled acetate panels are very expensive to make - especially in such a small edition size. We could certainly make and sell them a lot more cheaply in an edition of 500, but to our minds that seems like a bit of a con. A limited edition should be exactly that ie. limited, and not something you see everywhere you go.

Brian Jones 'Silver Trains', by Heavyconsumer on Mar 20, 2008 14:23:50 GMT 1, No offense intended s-editions. As stated, I do really like some of the pieces on your site. It's especially nice for me as a relative newcomer, as you're also introducing new artists to me. It's just that when one has a very limited budget, one needs to be very cautious in deciding which pieces to buy, especially at prices of say ยฃ200+ (in my case). As another member recently stated, it makes good financial sense to consider whether you're writing off funds completely or whether there would be resale possibilities, according to how significant financially each purchase it to the buyer personally. Not to mention, sometimes it makes very good sense to use one's collection's own liquidity to expand that collection laer on, if other funds are not always available, as is my case. I haven't sold yet (barring my Mona Simpson recently) and don't look forward to doing so, but I know I will have to eventually to take my collection in the direction I would most like, which is focussing on pieces where I can identify strongly with or have a very strong sense of personal connection with the art and in particular, focussing much more on commissions from artists who are perhaps "up and coming", than on prints which are owned by hundreds of other people too. So I also agree with your statement about keeping editions small, although I can understand why that can become illogical in many cases as artists become increasingly popular and wish to satisfy to some extent, demand for their work.
