I'D LIKE TO BUY THE WORLD A GOD, by s-editions on Apr 28, 2008 19:20:17 GMT 1, Zimbabwean paper acquired, a steal at Z$20,000,000, or 60p by Charing cross. All hurdles are overcome, bar the creation. Due for completion on Tuesday night and hopefully mailed to S-editions on Wednesday. ;D
Well done! As long as the paper was printed in Zimbabwe for the domestic market we will shell out the ยฃ300 to charity and will show your piece in Berlin. Very much looking forward to seeing it - although we don't like your lettering as much as dr.d's
I am sure you will be heartbroken to hear that we have sold the Iranian newspaper stencil. You just didn't get in there quick enough Slowmo. Would you like to commission one? Half price to you!
All the best, All @ s-editions

This is getting stupid....
s-editions you are doing some really bad marketing IMO. If you believe in your artists people will find and buy, you don't need to shove it down our throats and throw a strop with the people who critique it.

I am sure a reputable galley like s-editions wont try to find a loop hole to spoil this bit of fun and let the charity down

If the rules are met the charity gets its money (and more than likely still gets the money even if they are not met). Tell you what, why don't you match the amount? That would be far more beneficial than insinuating that we would ever do anything other than pay up. It's only the price of a print or two and it would make you feel good about yourself and having helped others.

Well actually we did, at 9:14 last night if you look back. But if it's OK with Slowmo we will send you a copy of the piece for ยฃ50 which we will donate to charity. Or you can buy the original from us for ยฃ500 and we will donate that money to charity too.

I see you deleted your last post ?
When i first wrote my comment, it was perhaps a little barbed and sarcy, and I shouldnt have made it, but I have followed this thread and thought it was a bit of fun- a forum member glibbly quoting he can do something, you taking him up on his offer and offering ยฃ300 for charity if he did it. From the looks of things he has done it.
But when I read your comment -
"Well done! As long as the paper was printed in Zimbabwe for the domestic market we will shell out the ยฃ300 to charity and will show your piece in Berlin"
it looked to me that you were looking to get out of paying the charity if the paper wasnt printed in Zimbabwe.
I guess i got it wrong, and for that I am sorry
Have a nice evening

I'D LIKE TO BUY THE WORLD A GOD, by funster on Apr 28, 2008 21:06:07 GMT 1, I'm going to stand up for s-editions in this case. I don't know them personally but they seem to be trying their best and being knocked down for no (real) apparent reason at each opportunity Maybe people should stick to the mantra - if you don't like it, don't buy it.

From my point of view s-editions has nothing to contribute to the board but pushing Dr D and others. I've not seen a single post on another subject, and at times the posts have been an advert a day.
Fair enough, if you don't like it, don't buy it\read it, but it feels like non stop spam at times. I don't think they appreciate that if the work is good enough, people will find it and start talking about it anyway. If s-editions was a poster who contributed to all topics, and from time to time talked about their releases it would be a different thing.
People haven't just taken against s-editions for no reason. It's like people having a conversation and s-editions shouting like a market trader in the corner.....which is close enough to the origins of the Monty Python spam terminology anyway.
Don't get me wrong, I wish them well in their enterprise, but they are going about it the wrong way completely IMO.

I'D LIKE TO BUY THE WORLD A GOD, by nacional on Apr 28, 2008 21:26:58 GMT 1, I suggested something far more palatable: Slowmo makes an edition of 10, 10 forum members buy them and the cash is give to charity.
Far better IMO.

I'D LIKE TO BUY THE WORLD A GOD, by slowmo on Apr 28, 2008 21:46:59 GMT 1, A newspaper from Zimbabwe, this paper is available in Zimbabwe, that meets the remit does it not, I never said anything about being printed there, just that its from there, Otherwise I am definitely pulling the 28 day delivery card you galleries love so much!!
I think fair play to s-editions on this, they have stood up for their artist, would hate to see them squirm out over the fact this paper is produced by Zimbabwean's outside of Zimbabwe as they could not hope to print it there, its a protest paper produced by exiles, available within Zimbabwe, South Africa and the UK. As this title is sold in Zimbabwe, that meets your/ my criteria.
I love the idea of you selling it on for ยฃ500. As for making an edition of 10, well maybe, but I have an idea for something that is worth buying rather than the wanky 2 second thought . I will run this by S-editions and let them release it if they like. If nacional really wants one of these, I will be doing a test spray, as there is a particular page that I want to use, so need to get it right first, you can have it, give your money to a charity of your choosing.
Dr D's stencil lettering is admittedly better than mine, but hey, I have a deadline to meet!
Just to point out, I am having a go at this work by Dr D, I also didnt like the coldplay work, or the HMP Prison London (thought them somewhat childish) but I do like the tube work and also between nowhere and boredom.

Well, we actually specified a newspaper from Zimbabwe (not 'from some Zimbabweans in the West End') as shaunyboy pointed out - but your one's close enough for us! It's the spirit of the thing that matters, not the letter of it. You got it very quickly, which is impressive. It also means you can spend the rest of the week working on the lettering, hah, hah!
28 days! Outrageous. We try to deliver within 10 days and actually aim for within 7.
We would love to work with you with a view to releasing a print. Let's try for a wanky 4 second thought and build from there Let's talk about it when you deliver your stencil. We will even let people on this forum know about it, although we will be braced for the abuse

I'D LIKE TO BUY THE WORLD A GOD, by slowmo on Apr 28, 2008 22:03:44 GMT 1, Good man! Glad you're willing to agree to it. There is still an outside chance of a real Zimbabwe paper, I emailed many of them today, but surprisingly most of independent nature have been shut down

Having well and truely had thy bluff called, I am a big fan of Dr d and your piece really does it for me.
I would like to match Nacional's offer and purchase your test piece or a/p for the same price to a charity of S-Editions choice.
Being '2 second wank' I hope I'm not being too assumptious? You knocked out a test piece surely

I await my test spray.
A charity awaits my 50 quid....
pm me when ready and I will give the cash.
As my Irish friend says "good man ya are..."

I'D LIKE TO BUY THE WORLD A GOD, by slowmo on Apr 28, 2008 22:12:38 GMT 1, What the hell did you start S-editions! Erm, I guess I can knock more up. I haven't even cut the stencil yet though, who would have thought a 2 second wank would generate interest. It would be a pleasure to send you one of these test proofs too, again I would ask like nacional you donate money to charity for it. Once this is all done and S-editions lets it be known which charity Dr D is supporting.
