SWEET REVENGE UP @ BRP, by killerkellah on May 15, 2008 14:01:26 GMT 1, I did hear that BRP was the person who paid the ยฃ45k for the Moona Lisa (?) at the Bonhams auction, call my cynical but if they did that and then sell 3 of Sweet Revenge at ยฃ20k each then the initial ยฃ45k paid out for the auction piece has more than paid for itself! Care to elaborate on this possibly libelous statement?
half the shit posted on here is libelous!

A large part of me doesn't want to reply and dignify what you are implying, but a larger part of me wants to comment. What is your agenda in trying to discredit BRP in this way? Rather than casting aspirtions on BRP from what you may have been told why don't you deal in cold facts. If you have ever had any dealing with BRP you would appreciate that this is absolute garbage. I also assume that you believe BRP to have bought all the work at the Bonhams New York auction yesterday to drive prices up even more, or had you not heard this rumour?

Every reason for BRP to get defensive when you state things like that I reckon. You also followed up your "I heard" BRP bought it statement with another post saying "it IS TRUE".

SWEET REVENGE UP @ BRP, by bobbymeachamjr on May 15, 2008 15:40:21 GMT 1, Whats w/all these new galleries putting out work by artists the day after auctions in which said artist does really well. It just makes you wonder... Sorry to pick on just your comment mate but had to say that the comments on this thread are generally bollocks! First of all BRP isn't exactly a 'new' gallery, they haven't decided to put this piece up for sale at ยฃ20k just because of the recent auction success. BRP hosted the Walker 'Vandal' show and 'Sweet Revenge' was available on the night for the same price of ยฃ20k, along with one other canvas 'Repunzel' priced at ยฃ35k it failed to sell. These were the ONLY 2 pieces that didn't sell on the night. Why didn't they sell? Well IMO (and it would appear in many others as well) the 'Sweet Revenge' canvas was not the best piece there by a long way, it is a massive canvas and the subject matter/content is pretty lacking. I am a huge admirer of Nick's work, but I don't just throw my full backing behind an artist just for loyalty or to keep up the Hype! The artwork on display on the whole was amazing, the 'Empire State' in particular was a complicated and extremeley detailed piece of work, with everything else selling I guess it kind of backs up my comments on quality, had 'Sweet Revenge' been produced at quarter the size and price, it too would have no doubt sold on the night. I honestly think BRP will struggle to sell this at this price, perhaps it should have gone to auction anonymously and taken it's chances there instead of sitting on a web site for months (perhaps years) unsold and causing detrimental comment!! Not the best PR move IMO!
1. Brp is not a new gallery? When did they set up shop? 2. More importantly, I didn't mean to single out brp but was just making the point that theres no regulation in this scene...

SWEET REVENGE UP @ BRP, by seidbereit on May 15, 2008 15:46:55 GMT 1, Am I the only one who actually quite likes the painting? I wouldn't necessarily pay 20k for it, even if I had it, but one the whole it's not that bad.
Just to add my ยฃ0.02, the comments from valium above are just ridiculous. BRP has every right to "get defensive". You'd be well advised to keep that sort of rubbish to yourself in the future, valium.

Ah... apologies D ,
Just a bit typical of the way the unnecessary negativity in threads causes the positive contributions to get buried along the wayside, I suppose.

BRP don't need to take that type of action.
I don't know how many times it has been said but if you have money and like something, you buy it.... and there's alot of people who buy art with some serious money:)

Sorry, they're the ones making the big bucks. They should be able to answer and deflect all questions/accusations. Wtf, this is an unregulated market and you don't want serious issues/concerns brought to the forefront? As of right now, the people in power basically have the power to print money...

SWEET REVENGE UP @ BRP, by BlackRatPress on May 15, 2008 16:15:58 GMT 1, dont want to discuss this to death but we have never and would never bid up work at auction - apart from anything else its illegal and to be honest completely unecessary. this canvas has always been this price and not changed as a result of an auction.

Perhaps your avatar should change to a blue rectangle as it appears you have consumed all of those pills in one dose.
