First Great Weston, by nadir on May 21, 2008 14:22:20 GMT 1, Can't say I'm overly impressed with this although it's quite nice. In reality this is a China Mike print that is signed by a collection of artists. Bit overpriced IMO.

First Great Weston, by G-Man on May 21, 2008 14:55:12 GMT 1, I just popped over to the ultralounge at Selfridges
On Saturday morning the shop doesn't open till 0930 so the 0900 release of the 60 hand finished will be made possible because to the right of the main doors on Oxford St there is an entrance to the ultralounge only.
This is the door that will be opened at 0900 so this is the place to queue if you are going to
Had a quick peek at the show and it looks cool

First Great Weston, by Agent Provocateur on May 21, 2008 14:57:09 GMT 1, Mmm yeah, not exactly paddling my canoe either... bit of an illustrative feel to me, with some little signifiers alluding to specific artists work. I wonder if it's going to be one of those that is much better in real life? The colour scheme doesn't really make the print bounce of the page either, quite muted and montone (although I know it isn't ).
I think I may pop along in the morning and see it first hand then if avaialble make my decision there and then.
Just a quick question, I suppose all the artists signatures will be randomly applied across the bottom of the image? Do we know who exactly is signing these... sorry in advance if we already know this!
ยฃ460... quite steep... especially if I can get a Hush Graf Geisha for ยฃ250!!!! ;D
ps the spell checks not working so ignore my bad spelling

First Great Weston, by snakes on May 21, 2008 14:57:50 GMT 1, It's a nice print and I just love the flying pike.
It's just a shame the neighbourhood in the print has gone to pot and some little rascals have daubed all over the walls!

First Great Weston, by shower on May 21, 2008 15:21:26 GMT 1, its nice, really nice but im not 100% on it. it is growing on me but there is something about it that im not sure about, i think it has something to do with the overuse of blue, all i see when i look at it is the colour blue, as its a street i would have quite liked a bit more grime, darker colours maybe to make the artists individual works pop off the print. i missed half of them the first time i looked at it!

First Great Weston, by giiiant on May 21, 2008 15:41:27 GMT 1, I take it the cctv cameras on top of the lamp post are apart of banksy aswell ??
I was under the impression that Banksy had nothing to do with the creation process other than giving permission to have his work included... could be wrong though.
I really like this print. Quite a task putting so many different styles into one piece and still making it look presentable and they've pulled it off nicely. Won't queue for it, but will probably try for one online.

First Great Weston, by gerry on May 21, 2008 16:11:01 GMT 1, Gotta say i'm surprised with the lack of love this print's getting a bit. Fair enough if it's not your thing, but think it's one of those that will really grow on people when they actually get to see it. Have seen a higher res image of it, and think it looks absolutely cracking.
That said, my view may be coloured by liking China Mike's stuff a lot anyway, and having walked down that street umpteen times over the last few years. Even took a photo of a Banksy on that same door where his piece is on the print way back in the day ('99 or so i think), which looking back was the first time i met paul who this print is a tribute to.
Still though, it's a top job for celebrating what's come out of Bristol and that building in particular, and i'll certainly be shifting my wall space around to give it pride of place.
Go have a look at it i say, i reckon it's really best appreciated in the flesh. The detail and references in it are incredible.

First Great Weston, by becksaboo on May 21, 2008 16:31:50 GMT 1, I think the reaction just goes to prove the point that this should have been released in Bristol because that place will only mean something to the people who have walked past it countless times. Others just won't have that personal connection to it.
Can't wait to see what the local ed will look like.

I think there's probably a lot of truth in that - doesn't do much for me and certainly not at that price!
