[ALL MUST READ] AAA email from Black rat Press, by craigf on Aug 9, 2008 12:23:39 GMT 1, My virus detector has quarantined a file called FileMod-001 which has an exe file of svchost.exe
Not sure if this is related to the email or not (or quite sure how to delete it as I've only just changed virus detectors)

[ALL MUST READ] AAA email from Black rat Press, by curiousgeorge on Aug 9, 2008 13:46:22 GMT 1, I think this is the only time it would be good to have not got an email via the mailing list!
Has the site actually been hacked? Who was it that was targetting sites recently?

[ALL MUST READ] AAA email from Black rat Press, by mishco on Aug 9, 2008 14:14:36 GMT 1, smif and dicky... they hacked and targeted one individual and advertised the fact it was them. this way is like aids i guess as it attacks the unsuspecting individual and it'll probably take time to find out you've got it. wouldn't have thought it'd be their style, more likely to be some lifeless geek stuck in a box room with no light wanking over his computer codes 24/7
saying that the pic on my email didn't open when i opened it up and the symantec scan said i was clean so hopefully i'm sweet.

[ALL MUST READ] AAA email from Black rat Press, by gbh on Aug 9, 2008 14:30:51 GMT 1, if you are a windows user, it's worth giving your system a quick scan with the free version of this: www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php
Always found it to be thorough.

[ALL MUST READ] AAA email from Black rat Press, by gbh on Aug 9, 2008 14:34:42 GMT 1, just noticed that the errors that were showing up on the main page of BRP that were the obvious signs of the intrusion are now gone.
perhaps the attacker is following the progress here (greetz)? it looks like a very targeted attack. Anyway, you should have resurrected the homepage before sending out the trojan email, but nice work anyway (not that I condone this type of behaviour).

[ALL MUST READ] AAA email from Black rat Press, by gbh on Aug 9, 2008 15:53:23 GMT 1, for those that this makes sense to:
look for suspicious outbound traffic from port 20660 to several ip's (US and Israel based), if you see that you are infected
run malwarebytes trojan remover and it should find 4 bho.trojans

[ALL MUST READ] AAA email from Black rat Press, by Wearology on Aug 9, 2008 16:19:29 GMT 1, I never want to get political especially on a forum of creative people but just to give you a pulse of what's going on in the American presidential race is my only goal - Obama might have peaked too early and now the Republican machine despite all the efforts of the left wing liberal media is defining Obama not Barack and his team of spinmasters - They are starting to poke holes is his voting record and judgement issues. It is going to get ugly and fast before November.

[ALL MUST READ] AAA email from Black rat Press, by arcam on Aug 9, 2008 16:47:13 GMT 1, for those that this makes sense to: look for suspicious outbound traffic from port 20660 to several ip's (US and Israel based), if you see that you are infected run malwarebytes trojan remover and it should find 4 bho.trojans Ran it and it came up all clean, so it looks like I got lucky. Thanks again gbh.

[ALL MUST READ] AAA email from Black rat Press, by craigf on Aug 9, 2008 18:02:34 GMT 1, I ended up scanning for almost 2hr (I checked all disk drives and have a lot of GB's) and it came up with 8 trojans, that I am pretty sure weren't there before.
It seemed to infect registry keys (whatever they are) and two system files
GBH - Thanks for the link to the malwarebytes software, it seems to have come up trumps for me ;D

[ALL MUST READ] AAA email from Black rat Press, by bunnyboy on Aug 9, 2008 18:38:07 GMT 1, I opened the e-mail but no picture showed. Have scanned with the malwarebytes and Symantec and my laptop came up clean. Do you think that means I'm ok? Anything else I can check?
Thanks again for the advice.

[ALL MUST READ] AAA email from Black rat Press, by gbh on Aug 9, 2008 18:40:08 GMT 1, sounds clean.
Please disregard my earlier comments re port 20660, turns out to be something else.
