Try Not To Breathe During The Marathon, by Deleted on Aug 9, 2008 3:18:59 GMT 1, So this BAM guy used the same exact image that Dolk stenciled and selling it for a profit? Everyone is okay with this?
Here's Dolk's for comparison. www.handmadeposters.com/display.aspx?menuid=4&prodid=18

Try Not To Breathe During The Marathon, by EdgeArt on Aug 9, 2008 11:30:09 GMT 1, Did any of you have issues with the D*Face Hate? The Eine Love/Hate? What about Banksy's Kate? How about D*Face's Green Lady? There wasn't even this much of a furore about the Mr Brainwash show ;D ;D
People use other images all the time, this time it was a play on another's image to show BAM's view of the Olympics... and he came out and fully admitted it. There was nothing hidden there... he was fully upfront with everyone about what it was. No one had to buy it or even like it although there seems to be a few people out there that found it amusing too! BAM has more than enough of his own good ideas to last 10 people a lifetime and I have to say the work I've seen from him for Lay It Up is really top notch... If you weren't keen on this one, you may well like what's coming next... if you did like this one, I'm sure you'll know what I mean

Try Not To Breathe During The Marathon, by skelly on Aug 9, 2008 17:24:48 GMT 1, The pieces you are using for example are plays on legendary works of art. When I first saw this I had no idea it was based on a "Dolk" I thought it was pretty cool actually, then I read on...

Try Not To Breathe During The Marathon, by EdgeArt on Aug 9, 2008 18:18:25 GMT 1, This is complete bulls**t and reflects very badly on your "gallery" imo. You were one of the very people who spoke quite a bit about the amount of bad art on here and people jumping on bandwagons and this piece is as bad as it gets, no excuse is excuse enough for such poorly executed, lame rip-off drivel.
Thanks type... We thought it amusing, witty and relevant... as obviously others did too. I think it's very harsh to judge a whole gallery on one piece of work you don't like. The whole point was that it was a rip off... something we made very clear, we never looked to hide that

Try Not To Breathe During The Marathon, by felix on Aug 9, 2008 18:26:19 GMT 1, I thought it was amusing and totally relevant for the start of the Olympics. At ยฃ137 for a canvas the price was more than fair - keep up the good work Edgeart!

Try Not To Breathe During The Marathon, by EdgeArt on Aug 9, 2008 18:41:00 GMT 1, Witty?!? Are you kidding me? I am sorry but this just ties into why I think this forum has become a joke where something like that is applauded. just saying we knew it was a rip-off doesn't excuse the complete lack of originality and I mean COMPLETE lack of originality. Unbelievable and to think you slagged hutch in the past, this is easily as bad i.e. both are extremely poor.
This could go round in circles all day... As I said before, I think to judge an artist on one piece is very harsh... If you don't like it no problem, hopefully you'll like what's coming next from BAM. Come along to Lay It Up and see for yourself.

Try Not To Breathe During The Marathon, by Harveyn on Aug 9, 2008 18:44:10 GMT 1, Have to say its bit harsh to call the forum a joke and the gallery a joke but thats obviously your opinion and valid to you.
I think EdgeArt have introduced many new artists that show a great deal of talent. BAM's first piece of the traffic warden was both witty and well executed. This piece I quite like but understand the positive and negative comments.
I am sure there are examples out there of art that is not worthy of comment but I guess as forum members you either strive to raise the bar or move on if its no longer your thing.

Try Not To Breathe During The Marathon, by graeme501 on Aug 9, 2008 18:48:45 GMT 1, i think the idea is good, but maybe doing a stencil of another runner in a different pose to dolks would have been better, but still, funny idea, relavent to the olympics
