LAST CHANCE FOR OSAMA!, by baileymontana on Sept 3, 2008 9:26:06 GMT 1, Just to clarify from me I really like Dr D's street work (the Coldplay one is great) but really feel these type of sales tactics by S Editions are similar to the sales tactics of the adverts / images Dr D re-works (buy now before it's too late in order to get the girl, look good, be trendy etc). If S Editions had started this thread in the Ebay / For Sale section I would not have commented.
Silky not sure if your comments are aimed towards me but I hope you can see from my posts I'm not just slating anyone for the sake of it, I'm hopefully constructively explaining why I don't like something.

LAST CHANCE FOR OSAMA!, by bmjt on Sept 3, 2008 9:26:58 GMT 1, Fair play, I appreciate the fact you are represenative of street artists. But I don't think that this forum is limited to purely that sphere, with many of the artists mentioned on here doing little if any street work, such as Russ Mills. I think this forum has developed beyond that definiton, it had when I joined anyway.
Cheers.

LAST CHANCE FOR OSAMA!, by sham69 on Sept 3, 2008 9:32:05 GMT 1, Thanks for the guidance Silky. I'lll make sure I bear that in mind next time I feel motivated enough to express an opinion. Maybe it's more acceptable to just say it's 'nice'. On account of not hurting anyone's feelings. Like.

Our 'sales tactic' is buy it if you want it, if you don't like it don't bother. It couldn't get less hard sell, short of not telling anybody about anything at all.
All we have done is say we have a print available - just like every other gallery on this forum. We have even offered a discount, meaning less profit than if we just took the big single order. It hardly justifies the response.

LAST CHANCE FOR OSAMA!, by bmjt on Sept 3, 2008 9:36:58 GMT 1, I just think the real killer is the quality of the work, if it was a unique, fresh and aesthetically beautiful piece which touched the viewer in a distinct way, there wouldn't be an issue. I think ppl are just sick of old cliche'd images with out of date/irrelevant topics which inherently reproduce other people's work.

LAST CHANCE FOR OSAMA!, by bmjt on Sept 3, 2008 9:41:13 GMT 1, No doubt it's important, to the integrity of the both artist and gallery, but if the final product was amazing, I would probably be less worried. Given that it's atrocious, the fact of the misleading info makes it all the worse.

What misleading info? It is what it has always been - a 48-sheet paste up modification of Jamie's buses. If you have a conspiracy theory you should look elsewhere.

LAST CHANCE FOR OSAMA!, by sham69 on Sept 3, 2008 9:53:54 GMT 1, Just let the art speak for itself.
I personally can live without that image. I don't need to be told that my life will be worthless if I let it slip through my fingers. I can still face the world if some fictitious gallery snaps them all up. Even if I am passing up a 10% discount. Honestly.

LAST CHANCE FOR OSAMA!, by s-editions on Sept 3, 2008 13:48:33 GMT 1,
And it really would not do to make our artists some money would it? Presumably you do not expect to get paid for any work you do, would that be right?
If you don't like a piece, how about making an intelligent comment about the art and moving on - instead of coming up with crazy comments about our wicked sales tactic of telling people what is available and offering a discount. It's doubtful that any of us will go to hell for that kind of evil.
Also, just to make it clear to everybody - NONE OF OUR ARTISTS USE PHOTOSHOP TO MAKE THEIR WORK! Occasionally a printer might use it to make separations for screen prints, but that it it.

The above is not your sales tactic. The bit you missed out is your statement that another gallery is interested in buying all the prints and this just made me feel the hype was too much. As I wrote previously, if you were confident about selling the art you would not have to consider selling Dr D's work to another gallery.
Plenty of other people feel similar to me here. I just feel it would be better if you kept your selling posts to the Ebay / Sales section rather than the main board.
