Artist interviews Vol. 1: Ripper1331, by Ripper1331 on Jul 2, 2007 21:29:09 GMT 1, I think you've mentioned you work in the computer games industry, if this is correct what is it you do?
Yes I've been in the game industry for 11 years and I'm a Producer at Sierra. It's an interesting job that changes all the time and I spend a lot of that time trying to get 60 creative people as close to agreeing on one thing as is humanly possible.
Current titles have not been announced yet but last year I worked on F.E.A.R. Extraction Point which is here: whatisfear.com/us/

Artist interviews Vol. 1: Ripper1331, by Ripper1331 on Jul 2, 2007 21:54:27 GMT 1, As Mac actively promote their items with overtones of a religious "cult" experience and run their headquarters and marketing campaigns as such, even down to the uniforms the staff have to wear, then what's the difference in message, between your "art" piece and a ipod/mac advert ?
Not much of a difference at all. Product is worshipped, not just Mac items - any big brand will do, just as much as religion is in our culture. Why not just come out and say that your product is on par, or more important in some cases, than who youโre worshipping.
I did also do a few with โJesus is listening; but not to you.โ At the bottom which changes the meaning up a bit โ that one got some angry emails.

Artist interviews Vol. 1: Ripper1331, by Ripper1331 on Jul 2, 2007 22:11:57 GMT 1, How do you feel about the current ebay reselling market? Does it bother you that people may be buying your art just to resell for a profit, or would you be happy with the increased awareness this may bring for your art?
Once somebody buys something from me itโs theirs to do with as they please. If they want to hold onto it forever or flip it in a week thatโs really up to them and Iโm cool with it either way.
I think that ebay can bring attention but I feel most of that attention is more related to the final bidding price of the item than the image.

Nookart made tote bags and stash tins with the line on it - I'll try to find the samples and post a pic.

Artist interviews Vol. 1: Ripper1331, by Ripper1331 on Jul 3, 2007 0:22:49 GMT 1, Man there's quite a few. Kicking myself for not getting a few other BAST pieces from the Faile store last year.
Then of course there was looking at the total of several signed Banksy prints in the basket and dumping them and just sticking with the signed Napalm blunder in 05.
In short not impulse buying in the realm of art is something you may live to regret!
What piece of art did you miss out on that you'd love to have on your wall?

Artist interviews Vol. 1: Ripper1331, by Ripper1331 on Jul 3, 2007 7:45:27 GMT 1, I almost immediately love any art that mocks religion. Are you afraid to burn in hell, or is hell only for the believers?
I'd like to think that when I die and if I'm wrong and there is a god he has a sense of humor. I might have to repent at the last minute just to be sure.

Artist interviews Vol. 1: Ripper1331, by Ripper1331 on Jul 3, 2007 7:50:47 GMT 1, Did you name yourself after the ripper from Unreal Tournament 99'? The ripper was always badass. Did you play UT2K4?
Not from UT2k4 but it is game related. I got the name when I was a game tester at Fox and we were working on Aliens Vs Predator. I became quite good at severing limbs with the Predator's speargun in multiplayer henceforth I became "Ripper".

Artist interviews Vol. 1: Ripper1331, by Ripper1331 on Jul 3, 2007 21:17:19 GMT 1,
Not sure what you mean by "daddy" so lets roll with chips assuming you mean Fredom Fries.
Chicken - breast only
Not too much although I have found that people who really hate what your doing though do send very long and elaborate emails explaining exactly why they hate you, your art and why you'll go to hell.

Artist interviews Vol. 1: Ripper1331, by Ripper1331 on Jul 3, 2007 21:49:25 GMT 1, Did you ever submit a picture to Vision On (bloody hell how old am I?) or Take Hart, if so what did you submit and was it shown?
I have no idea what this is so I haven't submitted anything to them. Actually I'm not big on submitting anything to anyone.
Egg
How long have you been in the game? where was it when you began? where do you think it is now? where do you see it going? J
Which game? The game of life 38 years - no other games matter.
As far as stenciling goes it just gets bigger but I do see it evolving and the pieces incorporating more aesthetics and other mediums. This is the interesting part. If it didnโt grow and mutate and change it would become pretty boring.
It will be interesting to see if it becomes as big in the US as it is Europe over the next few years.

Artist interviews Vol. 1: Ripper1331, by Ripper1331 on Jul 3, 2007 21:54:30 GMT 1, Who's your favourite superhero?
Batman
what does 1331 mean? do you own an ipod?
1331 was the first PIN number that I got when bank cards came out in the 80's. They were talking about hard these codes would be to crack and how amazing the process of coming up with the codes was on the news for weeks prior to the arrival of them.
Then of course the PIN # i was given was rubbish. Mind you I never forgot it.
In case you're wondering no it is not the number I use now.
Yes - I travel a lot and use the ipod a great deal. I hate the iTunes software but the device it's self is very good.

Artist interviews Vol. 1: Ripper1331, by Ripper1331 on Jul 4, 2007 0:07:21 GMT 1, who would you trust first, a journalist, or a politician?
Hmmm not had much 1 on 1 interaction with politicians but journalists are rarely accurate either. I would have to go with trusting no one.
If you had to eat a hedgehog of a tortoise which would you go for and why?
Definately a hedgehog because nobody would ask any further questions about eating a tortoise but I'm sure there there would be a lot of questions about why I choose to eat a hedgehog.
I had a water buffalo steak once in Jasper, Alberta that was quite tasty and I bet hedgehog tastes just like that.

Artist interviews Vol. 1: Ripper1331, by Daniel Silk on Sept 27, 2007 20:27:19 GMT 1, So when and how did you become a paraplegic? Seems odd that you gave Rene s**t, when you yourself has been subject to ridicule for your work and peoples misinterpretations. Some of the same stuff could be said for your work, like being religously intolerent, or intolent to the feelings of the familes that were affected by the unabomber.
Riskythings,
I think its only right that you say who you are, dont you?
