There's meant to be some more coming up, possibly on shop shutters, so i wandered around briefly this morning looking for them, forgetting entirely that shops tend to have their shutters rolled up during the day!
Will have a wander tonight...

'Not A Penny Off The Pay' show - preview pics, by christoffero on May 1, 2008 18:33:22 GMT 1, I am having a nightmare. Spent the last 2 weeks getting very excited about seeing Matt Small at Bristol and at the last minute find my sons school have a day off for voting and I'm stuck. If anyone out there goes, please do not buy any Matt Small stuff. Also, if you could let me know how fantastic it is, how much it is, and how much is left so I can get a train down Friday morning I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

'Not A Penny Off The Pay' show - preview pics, by ryskip on May 1, 2008 21:34:35 GMT 1, Just got back some excellent pieces there really liked the SPQR stuff, however it was slightly tinted by the fact that I queued for 1hr 15mins for a paint bomber print that was then sold out, made even more annoying when a women and her son came to collect their 4 copies!!! Sorry had to get that off my chest, some excellent bits though, the dennings were quality.

'Not A Penny Off The Pay' show - preview pics, by newmang on May 1, 2008 23:26:20 GMT 1, Managed to pop in briefly tonight and saw some really good stuff, looking forward to spending more time there tomorrow. Loved the Sweet Toof and Denning pieces and really taken with K-Guys Lizlam, which I never liked as a print, but looks stunning on the wall.
I was lucky enough to grab one of the last SPQR Paint Bomber prints (sorry Ryskip) and really pleased with it.

'Not A Penny Off The Pay' show - preview pics, by retroboy on May 1, 2008 23:36:46 GMT 1, Just got back from the show.
Was good to see some quality work, great turnout and it's a big venue so plenty of space to see all the bits without having to shove your way around. People buying like nutters, wanted a SPQR print but all gone by the time I got to the front of the queue - over an hour?!
Was crazy, people snapping up stuff left right and centre. Lovely stuff from Guy Denning, K-Guy - even had a piece on marble! Beautiful Matt Small bits and a nice new Motorboy print.
Bit miffed at all the crazy buying without even looking at the work, me and my mate were in a 7 and had a look round, ended up queing at 7.30 and didnt' get to the front 'til 9 - People were literally ripping stuff off the walls, especially the C215 stuff which is a real shame as now there's only about a third left on the walls - thought it was an exhibition for 10 days...Shame.
Anyway that's enough ranting, go down and enjoy the show - while there's still stuff left on the walls!
Oh and Nick Walker popped in for a browse and a chat.
Sorry no pics
Laters,
Retro

What!!! Great that people are loving c215, but leave the fucking work up for people to see, surely... I'm not there until Sat, aren't people picking up the work after the show ends?!

'Not A Penny Off The Pay' show - preview pics, by retroboy on May 1, 2008 23:55:34 GMT 1, I know it was awful,
I thought that was the case, it's a show after all, isn't much of a show with nothing left. Not sure what was happening but apparently the couple that bought them all couldn't wait until the show ended - NOT IMPRESSED...
At least there's quite a bit stuff on the street around the show, so if you get a chance have a wander. There's a nice C215 right outside the show on a door - wonder how long that will last -sigh-

'Not A Penny Off The Pay' show - preview pics, by Heavyconsumer on May 2, 2008 0:26:33 GMT 1, Jellya, thanks for posting photos on the blog. I love that MauMau Cyclops collab' and I'm impressed with the Sweet Toof piece at the top, prefer it to his usual stuff. Really enjoying the Gaia sketch and the Matt Small cupboards too. That Gaia has some serious skills, but I wasn't a lover of the recent print he put out. I hope to see more for sale from him soon.

'Not A Penny Off The Pay' show - preview pics, by gerry on May 2, 2008 1:50:38 GMT 1, Just got back from the show, after a late and very cool night with the people involved and other wicked bristol bods. That's what it should be about in my mind, you know, a fun night out?
The instantaneous queue to buy there was crazy, don't know what to say about that, other than i didn't join in, nor did anyone i knew.
About to set about blogging it now...

Once again the straight to the sales desk aspect of last night left me cold. Judging by the attitudes and actions of some of those people last night (barging in, rude, stroppy, impatient, devoid of any appreciation of the show from what I could tell), I think many were laughing all the way to eBay.

Have to agree with you. We were among the first in, and people were going straight up to the payment desk without looking at a single thing, whilst their 'mate' would report back and tell them what to buy. The penny kind of drops when you overhear a bunch of total norberts buying/praising up the 'Paint Bomber' prints, like they're proper lifelong SPQR groupies, then I turn around and see Matt standing about 3 feet from them and they clearly haven't got a clue who he is
Unfortunately, just another example of the pushy/shovey/quick-buck society we seem to live in these days
Just to clarify another point, we bought a C215 piece and took it home on the night. As we live fairly locally we would have been more than happy to pick it up after the show, but we were specifically told, when we pointed out the piece, that if we wanted it, WE had to take off the wall ! This proved a tad difficult so the SFW guys jumped over the desk to help at which point a slightly irate Frenchman asked what we were up to ;D, realised we weren't trying to nick anything, then took it off the wall himself for us. So I do agree that its a show and stuff 'should' only be collected at the end so everyone can enjoy it, but its not always the buyer spoiling things.

'Not A Penny Off The Pay' show - preview pics, by newmang on May 2, 2008 8:00:16 GMT 1, For once it looks like turning up late was a bonus. There was only about 5 people in the queue when I joined it about 8.45. I had expected everything to be sold and was really surprised that they still had 3 SPQR prints left. I assume that the big queues at opening must have put people off trying. Nearly everybody in front of me appeared to be buying K-Guy stuff, including the huge 'Keep Britain Tidy' canvas.

'Not A Penny Off The Pay' show - preview pics, by moleman on May 2, 2008 8:42:49 GMT 1, Went to support matt spqr and glad i bought quick, you dont wait ages and travel for hours to not get what you want. His after sales have gone up and so has his general prices but dont knock a guy for doing well. No one complains when the big boys sell out in seconds, thats just life like at the recent NW show ( good to see him anyway). Matt is a great level headed guy his future is in his hands and i hope he does well. Also got the 7ft long Rowdy not sure how to get that home. Well done to the person who got the will barras they were great to. Really enjoyed the show after the manic start but im happy.
