LAZ = FUCKING JOKE, by keepingitreal on Sept 20, 2007 18:34:59 GMT 1, First of all. I would like to say Thanks to Laz and his crew for everything he has done for street art and artists who would never even have got a hello from most Art establishments let alone sell out shows and prints, despite what a few loud people are saying the team at Laz did a excellent job of setting the whole thing up, there was just no F**king way they were going to keep everyone happy. It is of course very sad that everyone did not get the prints that they wanted, but that was always going to happen.
Before anyone fires abuse at me for writing this consider first that I am a genuine fan and I was at Greek St at 7.30pm on Tue and at that point there was only 10 people there, I finally got in the door at 10.30am, yes thats 15 hrs in the cold & anyone who was there for the whole night deserves the prints they got & the right to sell it if they like.
I do feel sorry for some people who missed out but I can tell you the line only formed at 5.30am when most people started turning up in black cabs by the dozen. I spoke to most people in the front of that line and 95 percent of them were genuine fans who proved it by standing on the street in the cold all night!!
I don't give a toss what price people are selling these on ebay because I think if you sell them your F**king barmy, these prints are excellent, all of them & it does p*ss me off when people Diss good art & make no mistake Micallef has just produced some excellent art. CONGRATULATIONS Anthony!!!!!!! The best prints I have seen in a long time!!!

Very objective post KIR. Who were you in the queue? Were you with the crowd that had travelled from Bristol?
Particularly agree with your comment about those who are selling these as being Barmy.

LAZ = FUCKING JOKE, by carlito on Sept 20, 2007 18:47:39 GMT 1, only one point..they did not do an excellent job of setting up the sale yesterday otherwise there wouldn't of been such a mess...fair play to you staying all night unfortunately I had work I could not get out of on both days (and then had to)...but surely if it had been managered better those of us within the first 180 in the line would in fact have got a print - yes?
just because Laz had the good fortune to work with Banksy and make a lot of money out of him that doesn't stop him or his gallery from beng criticised?

I can see your point to an extent, but whatever else went on, why on Earth would you reward a few c**t who had just assulted someone by ushering them to the front of the queue?
Something is seriously wrong there.

I bet its close too the global expenditure for narcotics ($400 Billion).

I guess it was to defuse the situation and get the slags out of there as quickly as possible

LAZ = FUCKING JOKE, by dave313perry on Sept 20, 2007 18:54:47 GMT 1, a couple of points...
there should have been 180 of each when infact there was a fraction of that meaning that the last people who slept out the night from around midnight only just got a choice of a complete set!!!
they served at about one person per 15 minutes - thats piss poor customer service and absolute bollox preperation!
no doubt you left so did not see the commotion of about 200 people in the que and whispers from security to security that their was only about 50 tubes left! but no official word ever announced until they had gone!
shocking - truly shocking!

Galleries and dealers are immoral whatever, their job is to simply make as much cash as possible for themselves, their artists and their shareholders. They really can pretty much behave how they please. Doesn't make it right I know.. but companies rarely if ever act or consider ethics and morals.
Queues, hype, people fighting over art, camping out all night, simultainious LA show, pop stars, pr companies, a new movement in art, media frenzy, Banksy, PYMCA, POW, Laz, Wall & Piece, these forums.. Banksy and all the street sculptures, the amazing shows and now Micallef. Wow ! fuck it.. he might be a cunt and the queue for prints might have be a shambles.. but jeez.. what an achievement, it's a fucking miracle that someone, anyone, has managed to break these artist into contemporary art.
Gallery staff and owners have ALWAYS been c**t.. no surprises there. But come on guys, ya gotta put this into perspective a little.
peace and love

Exactly.
Last year it was 9:00 when I got to the queue for Banksy's Flag, and over half of them were gone by time I got mine, but at least it only took less than 2 hours I think, For Laz to be selling many fewer prints (for 12 times the price) and some in sets which meant way fewer transactions than the 1000 seperate transactions for Flag, to take 7 hours over it really is inexcusable.

LAZ = FUCKING JOKE, by jon0 on Sept 20, 2007 21:13:01 GMT 1, after reading all that. wouldn't touch one of those prints with a sh**ty stick and Laz can smoke c*ck.
only reason why i'm posting, and lets face it, this horse has been flogged, is to say- to me it looks like the heavies are getting involved now. never takes long for criminals to sniff easy money and that is what this is- easy money with all those mugs willing to 'invest' in some art on the bay after all the frenzy of the 'next big print' release.
i'd be careful you lot queing in the next 'big' one and wanting to fight your corner and stand your ground and get even for what happened this time. i smell something fishy here- and I reckon you'll be queing with some right upstanding pillars of society.
get photos of the next queue.. lots of em. you might need them in court.
on that bright note

Maybe a bit longer if it was an edition of 10'000.

if you view the source code you'll see that the email address to use is: antm@antonymicallef.com
I'm sure this isn't his personal email and i'm not posting anything that isn't already in the public domain. maybe if a few people let him know what a mess his print release was he'll have a word with that t**t laz!

LAZ = FUCKING JOKE, by Cocteau 101 on Sept 21, 2007 1:34:14 GMT 1, Only just recovered to face all these related Mic threads. But a quick synopsis: Got there bang on 6am joined queue. Had a chat and a cup of coffee with a few people - BONGO, Steve and two guys and a girl who had come from Leeds. In fairly good spirits thought definately in line for a print. Then fucking mayhem for hours and hours on end, queue jumping, kick offs, lack of info, some more chat with a few great people got to about 4.15pm and fucked off with fuck all other than cramp, a migraine and a pain that I can only describe as having a 5ft metal road anally inserted. To be honest it was just a relief to get it over with. Never ever again! That queue and the events that we all know went on during those hours is a microcosm of the state we are in today, I need not say anymore. I'm not even arsed about how many are on ebay, they'll be available at cost in two weeks.
