Art of Hope Competition – Winner Announced!, by Art Republic on Mar 27, 2009 15:13:44 GMT 1, artrepublic recently ran a competition called Art of Hope to create a limited edition print to express people’s vision of hope for the transition from 2008 to 2009. We received well over 100 entries and the standard was very high.
Here is the winning entry chosen by the artists Hutch and Graham Carter. The artist, Archi Ram, decided to name the print ater the competition. ‘Art of Hope’ has been released initially as 10 Artist Proofs which are already proving popular.
We think it’s an outstanding piece, what are your thoughts?

It isn't "outstanding". In fact, it's pretty crap. What were Hutch and Graham Carter thinking of?
If I may also ask, apart from the fact he was born in England, what relevance does the American comedian Bob Hope have to British currency? Perhaps there's something clever here that is completely lost on me, but it feels like the link's pretty tenuous. The expression "clutching at straws" comes to mind.
When you say "already proving popular", that sounds like gallery-speak. Does it mean some have actually sold to individual collectors unconnected to the Archi Ram?
