£25 POUNDER CRUNCH BURGER PRINTS AT RED PROPELLER, by Bram on May 15, 2009 18:56:38 GMT 1, I was out last night and left the treasurer to seal the deal. She got them @ 9:03. Just got the email with the bad news. I well p*ssed for 2 reasons. 1) being a denning fan, I fancied a bargain and 2) I promised the mrs a packet of Mcvities for the effort.
I have 3 very nice Russ Mills so I'm not sure if I need another. Still I may get the crumbs of the digestives.

£25 POUNDER CRUNCH BURGER PRINTS AT RED PROPELLER, by Red Propeller on May 15, 2009 19:00:38 GMT 1, Sorry to everyone who was unlucky last night - how would people feel about the print run being equal to the number of people who buy it within half an hour?? Just trying to find a solution and would welcome some feedback.

Nah. You're doing a good job. Offering nice prints at ridiculously low prices. They will be very popular and people will miss out, that's just how it is.
They can either moan or get over it.
Everyone knows the score. Anyone that moans too hard is probably only worrying about any profit they might miss out on.

£25 POUNDER CRUNCH BURGER PRINTS AT RED PROPELLER, by oliversmark on May 15, 2009 19:07:16 GMT 1, Cant you fix your site so prints dont over sell? or IMO, it should be first come first serve, like your email said- and the people who missed out last week shouldnt have got an advantage. If I would have known I would be assured of the Denning print I would of tried to buy Baker print last week!

£25 POUNDER CRUNCH BURGER PRINTS AT RED PROPELLER, by Bram on May 15, 2009 19:15:46 GMT 1, I am sure there would be no moaning if they sold out in nano seconds, it's the thinking you bagged one then finding out you didn't that's the problem.
These prints are creating a lot of fuss because they are bargains i.e the price / image / edition size. Would the Baker or the Denning sold out had they been £150? or a run of 500?
I think RP should stick with the low edition size but sort a different system for the allocation. It's got to the point now where the is a roll over so the Russ Mills maybe nearly sold already etc.

Have an IT man or lady look to load the correct software up on your site so the availability is always correct.

It's pretty difficult, on Edge Art the stock only goes out of stock once it is checked out. This is quite simple. A basket system like POW and BRP is thousands of poinds to implement

£25 POUNDER CRUNCH BURGER PRINTS AT RED PROPELLER, by Heavyconsumer on May 15, 2009 20:03:33 GMT 1, Topboy, the problem is, POW spend a lot more on IT than we can expect other less IT reliant galleries to imo. Other than Shep' Fairey and perhaps BRP, who deal with mega popular artists and high value print releases, I don't think too many other galleries could drop what POW must do on IT..
I agree 100% that the ideal way is not to oversell in the first place, but we can't really expect RP, who sell a helluva lot less prints online to implement the same quality ordering system as POW, it would not be cost efficient for them. I'm sure they could get their database tweeked a bit or even just not accept payment immediately, sending a payment link by email to those who are successfull. People won't mind so much then imo. I think it's after sending money that the attachment to the purchase becomes more significant.
I think RP are a victim here of their own willingness to look after their customers. With those who missed out on the Baker print, they set a very akward precident. I still maintain the punters should have been offered an alternative Baker print or simply refunded, but it's easy to criticise with the benefit of hindsight. They're clearly doing all they can to try and look after people and I think that's great of them. You can never please all the people all the time, except on one isolated occasion when POW managed to with Nola. Plenty were still whining about missing out though.
Well done on delivering quality art at affordable prices RP!!! I'm sure that even those who missed out appreciate what you're trying to do.

We all know the score, you win some you lose some, but at least RP are giving everybody the chance to aquire good art at an excellent price!

£25 POUNDER CRUNCH BURGER PRINTS AT RED PROPELLER, by amsterdam9697 on May 15, 2009 20:22:58 GMT 1, I have to give kudos to RP for their incredible customer service. Yes, I missed out on the GD drop and have been looking forward to getting my hands on anything from GD for quite a while... That said it was very cool for them to follow up and offer priority on next weeks print from Russ Mills as it looks to be a very quality print as well!
Thus, I've indicated that I would rather have priority on next week's print rather than a refund. My question is do I have to do anything on this end when the print drops next week? I'm not real clear on the definition of "priority" in the UK when it comes to art, but I'm thinking that I've already paid so it's a matter of waiting for the Russ Mills print to arrive? Does that seem correct to the forum?
Again, KUDOS to RP for the great service and offering affordable prints from top artists at GREAT prices. As such, the editions are low and refunds are bound to happen... If it's any consolation, I've been refunded by that dick Obey on more than one occasion, and that guy has NO excuse when it comes to upgrading servers, shopping software, POS, etc. Fairey is currently making money hand over fist and his servers STILL suck and they end up refunding after EVERY drop... so it really comes down to a lot of people trying to access the shopping cart at the same nanosecond and the inevitable refunds that occur when sales exceed inventory due to the overload on the system during the quick sale...

I also think that the way RP are handling themselves here is commendable.

Thanks for the update, RF... I got the email this a.m. regarding the miss and replied that I would love priority on the Russ Mills slated for next week... TBH, I'm liking the RM print more than the GD, but I would have loved to have both as Guy Denning is such a rarity in the States and I've been trying to secure anything on the affordable side from him for a while... Oh well, s**t happens! ;D
