That should be artists, not singular. Also a few supporting people as well.

The Leonard Street Gallery, by blgallery on Jul 11, 2008 20:20:40 GMT 1, I payed 500$ in stuff that I never received. I blame it on myself because it was three months ago and I kept believing that I would have received it because that's what they wrote me last month. I'm a grad students in the US, so I can't just walk to the gallery and pick something up. It's sad, I don't know what to do. I called the bank and since I let 90 days pass there's nothing they can do. fuck, 500$ it's a lot of money for me.
sorry for the lame message, but maybe somebody could suggest me something or give me a # that I can call because nobody answer the one that I have. Any help or hint is really appreciated.
Thanks

if they are limited company you are done for i think and you have to contact the receivers and hope to get your goods/fees ..........but i may be wrong .

Case may be strong, but sue for what? You can't get blood from a stone. James sniffed all the cash up and still collectively owes artists over ยฃ100k at last count so chances of anyone getting anything out of him is slim. On the positive... he likely owes dealers cash too, and their justice will far outstrip the negative effect any civil suit could cause him.

The Leonard Street Gallery, by Heavyconsumer on Jul 12, 2008 4:41:00 GMT 1, People like that tend to make sure their dealer is paid up, at the expense of other duties, hence this mess no doubt, if there is truth to the drug related rumour.
I feel terrible for his staff, who whenever I've called with a query, have been very helpful, friendly and professional. And I feel awful for those of you who have paid for art that hasn't been received. I hope that somehow the gallery manages to fulfill the outstanding orders. I mean what else can they do with art that has been sold? (Excuse me if that's a naive question, but I'm not in either art-dealing or law and it seems to me that once you've paid, you own it!?!?)

The Leonard Street Gallery, by craigf on Jul 12, 2008 7:53:57 GMT 1, If you pay for something that you haven't recieved you become an unsecured creditor rather than the owner of the piece. The piece remains in the ownership of the company unless it was on consignment then the artist still owns it. In this case I think there is going to be a right mess with neither the artist getting their piece back or the buyer getting it to put on the wall

The Leonard Street Gallery, by Partyfoodprincess on Jul 25, 2008 19:47:51 GMT 1, Just checked the website...now it makes sense why they are not returning calls/emails....
I'm owed ยฃยฃยฃยฃ from TLSG in respect of a gold beejoir...owed now for about 2 months.
Unfortunately, as a mere unsecured creditor the chances of getting over 10% of what you are owed are slim...even collectively chances of scraping back any owed monies are zilch.
Any names/numbers to try and claw back some ยฃยฃยฃยฃ gratefully received.
Shame its shut down.
Does anyone have the official name by which the company is registered or a company number? Might be an idea to check companies house to see if its actually in liquidation or not?

Nope. I was lucky in that it was only a small statue I lost out on

Bloody hell this is an old topic. I think its dead and buried. That said it would be interesting to know if he has reincarnated himself in the art world.
