Lazarides in The Times, by Daniel Silk on Jul 13, 2009 12:32:51 GMT 1, Good read
Steve is a good bloke, but I worry things might go a bit tits up From contact I have had over the last year or so at least one member of staff is a little aggressive shall we say Not really doing Steve any favours, and I think has damaged the Lazarides name (in my eyes at least)

Lazarides in The Times, by rolfharris on Jul 13, 2009 17:10:06 GMT 1, I wouldn't worry too much for Steve and Lazarides as a gallery, there's very little, if any, danger of things going pear shaped. When you've a list of artists such as those on the Laz roster then things are looking very healthy. Furthermore, when you consider the genuine interest & enthusiasm in art that Steve has and his willingness to invest in, and support up and coming artists, there's no reason why his/the Gallery's fortunes shouldn't continue to rise.
As for members of his staff being 'a little too aggressive' I think that the person who you refer to is far from aggressive. Just blunt in his terminology and sometimes this isn't a bad thing. Also worth adding that whenever this person's advice has been sought with regards to artwork, he has been extremely helpful.

Lazarides in The Times, by blackcowboy666 on Jul 15, 2009 12:38:17 GMT 1, i always thought Outsider art as a term exists - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Outsider_art work often by non-artists, with a slant on mentally ill artists...and its too big and established to be hijacked by ol' bald head. by the way Laz doesnt support the scene, he has never done anything that is non-profit...he profits off the scene...Banksy organised Cans didnt he? when did Laz do something to help artists that didnt result in him getting some ยฃยฃยฃ? hes a busniessman first and foremost...

Lazarides in The Times, by blackcowboy666 on Jul 16, 2009 10:59:05 GMT 1, do you think opening a gallery to sell works at a profit for personal gain is the same as genuine support? have you ever seen Laz giving advice to kids who turn up to his gallery and want to be like Banksy? no, he a)doesnt let just anyone come to his PV's or b) he's upstairs in his office.....has he ever been on the streets? has you ever seen him at other peoples events / exhibitions showing solidarity/support for the scene? has he ever spoken publicly about anything other than his own rosta of artists / events? i could bang on and on...as someone who is involved in the scene, laz has only ever been about himself...not the scene, just the passion of his artists and making money. FACT.

Lazarides in The Times, by wizzy on Jul 16, 2009 11:31:42 GMT 1, Gallery running costs need to be paid and that includes staff, business tax, income tax, VAT etc. etc., idealism is not yet classed as a currency mores the pity, maybe naively i assume that a Gallery owner whether its Laz or any of the many others can support a genre / Artist or whatever and still run a business?. Laz is ok as far as i am concerned.
