Copyright / Hush Prints - May 29th, by eddiedangerous on May 21, 2008 17:26:48 GMT 1, Really, so the fact that 4 'personalities' were posting from a single IP address is probably a pure coincidence. Thank goodness for that. Again, I don't give a s**t about someone hyping up an artists work, this is par for the course. I piped in because another forum members integrity was being called into question. However, I find it very sad that the Administrator on here hasn't responded to several reasonable requests to clarify matters.
appreciated s, but as explained, even if silky can tell us that info, it really doesn't seem to matter as [reasons above]
im just gutted this thread stooped so low, and ended up missing by a mile its original meaning. Taking for granted this info above is correct...
Can we get back to business now??!!!
(Im still henkering for the T&T2 shots ) ;D

Copyright / Hush Prints - May 29th, by slowmo on May 21, 2008 22:59:10 GMT 1, Done a little research, in fact IP addresses are at best a poor means of identifying either roughly in the world you are or which internet supplier you use. If you are a street artist in Qatar and you have a big following there, you are well fxxked as they all share the same IP, which coincidentally is banned from wikipedia, so don't expect much knowledge from that part of the world popping up soon
ISP also are known to have users sharing IP adddresses, I guess to compress information, cease yet another witch hunt, or not, either way do a google search at least to investigate suspicions in future!

Perhaps I was amiss in asking specifically for the IP details, as it is an over generalization of a method of finding out details about unique users. There are other tracking factors such as cookies and login details that can provide information to the multiple user issue. First, a couple of pointes related to the IP addresses. It is true there are tracing issues if the users provider (ISP) uses dynamic IP addresses, then they could be sharing a pool of less than a hundred to a few thousand addresses at the same time. This is typically regional such as more than one user in the same area, or they live/work in the same location such as university or at the same company. Still, it would be a hell of a coincidence if they happened to visit the same site in a very niche interest field, and hyped the same artist on the same threads. There have been instances on this forum, where users were banned through what the administration cited as multiple user IDs from the "same IP". The tracking method isn't just with IP details, but through other tracking methods such as cookie info, registration details, or requiring login that vets addresses for uniqueness. Even in the event you have saved your login details, the same process happens each time you visit a website that has that function. It is entirely possible to track users and to be aware when someone is using multiple IDs folks... remember the people giving themselves respect points only a few months ago? Administration knew about the multiple IDs under those circumstances and they can track them now. Noticeably absent from the conversations since my initial post questioning Hush's use of multiple IDs are the users 'uac' and 'mainartery' (as well as 'stikadude' on WK). I know Hush stated through Opus that he wasn't going to post anymore... but does no-one find it curious the other names have remained absent from discussion when they were so active in talking Hush up in the first place?! Now I would imagine they will suddenly return from hiatus after this point is raised... but for the last 5 days they have all been silent. There is no witch hunt here, just an issue of credibility that needs to be addressed.

Copyright / Hush Prints - May 29th, by seidbereit on May 22, 2008 9:25:32 GMT 1, I've kept out of this discussion since the accusations escalated simply because i don't know enough about IP addresses and the like to make any comment on them but as it appears in the meantime, even a confirmation that three posters were coming from the same IP address wouldn't really prove anything anyway so, so much for that eh?
What I will say though is this: I took the time to go back through the posts from mainartery and uac who between them have probably 200 odd posts. Hush himself has only about 25 (I forget the exact totals now but it's not important) and only a portion of these posts have anything to do with Hush. The majority are about the normal topics everyone talks about. So so much for the "gushing" converstations about himself eh? Pretty damn short conversations.
Now, if you'd have gone through those posts yourself you'd soon have noticed that any alleged "hyping" is pretty minimal. Things like "Mmm that's really nice" / "Can you please post pictures" / "Hush is great" etc. It certainly wouldn't have been enough for me to blow money on the basis of (and just to give the full story I only have one hush print which I'm very happy with so it's not like anyone can claim i have a "vested interest in protecting my investment" or the like). Anyway the main point is, the posts from mainartery and uac are - in my humblest of opinions - completely harmless. There are dozens of other posters who go a damn site further "hyping" lesser artists than Hush on here but they never get a mention. Is this because works from those other lesser artists are not quite so hard to get hold of, compared to Hush?
Lets not forget Hush has had a total of what? 7 or 8 prints all in very small editions and all which sold out instantly (primarily because there are only 15 or 20 of each, IMO, and not because they were hyped sales). so why would Hush need to hype his own work, it obviously sells itself and was long sold before mainartery or uac made comments on it so how does that constitute hyoing something for the sake of sales success?
Incidentally, there was a thread once a while back where posters were asked to list their five favourite artists and mainartery had hush at no 5 but admitted he was jostling for that position with Parla.
Anyway, I have to get back and do some work but for anyone else who's looking for answers on this issue (and it seems IP addresses aren't going to provide you with any sort of proof) then I'd advice you to simply do a quick scan back over the posts from mainartery and uac and make your own mind up whether what you see there is OTT hype or not. In my opinion that's not hype, it's not even close.
To say this matter has merely been a mountain made out of a molehill would be a huge understatement, IMO.

Copyright / Hush Prints - May 29th, by skanky on May 22, 2008 9:30:44 GMT 1, Give it a rest Jam you have made your point. Maybe it was his mates backing him up maybe it wasnt. He has had a lot of snidey comments about his work that have been over the top IMO. Just yesterday there was another one on WK and there have been plenty on here . Criticism is one thing but the constant little jokes re Faile are out of order. If his art is not for you thats fine say so ,but do it once and move on.
It bothers me more that you seem to think we are all so naive to be led by posts on here to waste our money. You did the same thing with the Nick Walker thread and your conspiracy theories. Give it a rest ! Good luck Hush the GG looks great.

Have to side with jam on this one. I too have knocked hush's work but, putting comments about that to one side, it is about personally attacking forum members but larger questions of integrity. Integrity round people shooting the messenger, as well as the the site admin failing seeming to totally turtle and fail to make any comment on the issue which he obviously knows a lot about as Silky does use his powers and knowledge of IPs to block users.
As for Hush, he is stickadude and dollars to doughnuts there is no need for denial. As a closing remark, for a bit of light hearted reading (and as a remark to eddie's post above) go read the conversation between hush and stikadude on W K

Copyright / Hush Prints - May 29th, by gm on May 22, 2008 10:05:05 GMT 1, I've only read the last 2 pages of this thread, and have no intention or joining in the arguments, I would just like to say to all those baying for Silky to give out information on posters' IP addresses: Have you ever heard of something called the Data Protection Act?
Silky could find himself in some deep shit if he started posting user info on here, so give the guy a break.
*goes back to sleep*

Copyright / Hush Prints - May 29th, by mcnuts on May 22, 2008 10:46:09 GMT 1, right. ok then gm, does silky's use of the IP information to ban members from the site and ask publicly why some members post from more than one account also violate this? Just curious as it is a practice done in the past. Just seems to me this case is being ignored. Again, it's not the quality of the art at issue but the way it's being dealt with, even ignored.

Copyright / Hush Prints - May 29th, by Daniel Silk on May 22, 2008 12:31:37 GMT 1, It would be nice for clarification on the IP issue silky?
I suspect none of you will believe this but I have only just caught up with this thread.
I had been asked by PM about a few accounts, and if they were all of the same IP. I looked into the situation, and comfirmed to them that I found 4 accounts that all had the same IP including the two that they suggested.
